I have reached my limits again. I'm experiencing some eye pains now. I have to minimize looking atthe computer. This week, our boss wanted to get rid of our books. He wanted us to use e-books. He made a program for us to use. Unfortunately, we have to look at our screen for 8 hours. It will definitely give us more eye pains in the future. Happy mylotting everyone.

you have to rest your eyes. Also, it would help if you look at a plant when you don't want to close your eyes!
Make sure you have eye drops, or put on an anti-radiation protector for your screen if you're using CRT monitors. Your eye-health is very important.
A computer screen refreshes or flickers a lot in one second. It's so fast that we don't notice it, but it causes eye strain. This is why, when you try to video/photograph a computer, you see this weird lines on the monitor. It's because of the computer refreshing. Each line you see, is probably how many times the screen flickered/refresh when you took the photo. This can be seen especially on CRT monitors.
The reason why there are special devices for ebooks is because of this eye-strain issue (flickering). A technology called "e-ink" resembles that of a book page. No flicker, no eye strain!

Oh, e-ink is good. I guess the program he made is not actually an e-book. LOL. He just called it e-book. I don't know how to call it either. Yes, our boss hasn't bidden goodbye to his crt monitors yet so we're still using them until now. He doesn't even provide us those screen protectors. I've been working for him for the past four years. He's stingy. LOL. I just need to close my eyes, see something green, look at the plants, etc. Happy mylotting.

This makes me wonder whether even reading books under energy-saving LED lights will produce eye strain, because LEDs flicker whether they're in a light bulb socket on the ceiling or behind or in your computer screen. Maybe they put e-ink into these ceiling lights, or rely on the number of them they use to cancel out the flicker? One of these days they might put e-ink into computer screens, and then we'll only get back problems.

Oh I am sorry to heart that, Angel.
Although I always wear a special eyeglasses for minimize the effect of looking at the computer , I will feel pain in my eyes too when I have reached my limits.
Just take a chop of cucumber and compress it on your eyes - I often use it as my aye mask ;)

good day angelkarah050182,
with reference to your post, if you are already experiencing eye pains, better to take the necessary precautions. as i remember before, it is just a slight pain that i felt on my eyes that only last for a couple of minutes. until such time that it somehow lead to vertigo. and now, i am having this kind of illness. it is not a hazardous one but it is the complication of a very mild eye pain that i just disregarded. if i known it before, i would not suffering from vertigo now a days. so i am just doing the best that i can whenever this vertigo affects my health.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about that. So whenever we feel something even how mild it is, we have to let them checked. It's for our own good. After reading your post, I'm alarmed. I hope I won't have vertigo too. Take care of yourself. Happy mylotting.

They say that blinking helps the eye to stay moisturized which reduces the strain. Take as many breaks as possible as sitting continuously is not also healthy for you. If the eBooks have a small font copy and paste to word and increase the font so that you do not strain too much.

I guess it's not actually an e-book. He just called it e-book. He just scanned the pages so we can't even copy-paste the words. He wanted to get rid of the books. I gues his idea isn't that good enough. We still need hard copies. If the server isn't working, we can't access that e-book of him. LOL. Yes, I try to blink a lot of times and stand up and walk around whenever I have a break. Happy mylotting.

How pitiful you are! I have the same feeling for computers as you. The computer is not good for your skin, eyes, nose and at last your health because of its radiation. Why did i say so? Because in this summer i used the computer a lot and when i stayed for a long time before it, i felt hurt for my skin and eyes. And some people in my university have allergic rhinitis, which is said to have strong connections with using computers. Besides, when you sit long before computers, your neck and waist will feel hurt too. But it is sad that i feel i can't live without computers. What should i do?

Oh, you just minimize using it if you can't live without it. Put a cushion on your back for your waist or back pain. Exercise your neck if they are already painful. I sometimes exercise in the morning. I move every part of my body especially my neck, waste, legs, shoulders, etc. Yes, using computer too much will cause illnesses. We have to be careful. Health is very important. Happy mylotting.

Hey, angelkarah! Whenever you would feel those strains in your eyes, try closing them for a few minutes or look at something that is quite far. You may also want to use some eye drops for daily care use (not for the red eyes). That will help you with that. I used to have the same dilemma when I was still working in a call center.

Oh, yeah. that's what I'm doing. I close my eyes and if possible, I don't stare on my screen. Yeah, I need to buy some eye drops. I ran out of it. Happy mylotting.
