replacement refs? Yikes! I fear for the safety for the players and for those close games going the wrong way! I will try the first few weeks but if this becomes a circus, I'll back off ans stick to hockey. Your thoughts.

I don't know that much about football, but I imGine teams and players are used to the way certain people referee the games, so to have replacements, seems nuts to me.

All last season, the NFL's focus was on safety of the players . There were new rules in place and now they have replacement refs who are slower and there may be injuries!

I was watching Jimmy Kimmel last night, and he showed a funny clip during the NY and Patriots game. A player tossed the ball to a (replacement) ref, and he had trouble catching it. It was like a game of hot-potato. I'm afraid this could become a circus. If this end up affecting game results, then I'd be staying away.

I cannot fathom with the billions the NFL makes they cannot meet the demands of the referees. And part of it according to the radio show I listened to this morning is that they (the refs) simply don't want to change their retirement plan. Is that so hard to accept? I mean for goodness sake, they have refs from the Lingerie League!?

I'm so not ready for football season. What ever games are on that hubby wants to watch I'll let him. But none of the teams that he likes are every played on our tv since we are not in that area unless they are playing down here or a team from down here is playing up there to where he can see them. At least it's still preseason so I don't think we are missing much of anything. I'm not a big sports fan which you know that already but I still enjoy watching a good game here and there.

Although it is certainly a big deal that we will have officials that are not NFL-ready, I think we are making an even bigger deal of it than it is. I think we are ignoring part of what happened last year (and in many years past in the NFL as well). As Skip Bayless pointed out on ESPN First Take a bit ago, on almost every Monday last NFL season, there was a discussion about a bad call a ref had made and what should happen to them and how the game is being ruined by poor officiating. We had this type of problem already, even with the regular referees.

But with the replacements , it is going to be 10 times worse!
