What do you save money for?

When I was young, I can remember I always have a piggy bank but I have forgotten what did I do with the money I saved. Now I still save some coins in my piggy bank. Though I also have savings in the bank. I like to save money. Before I just save money so when everyone else runs out of money I am very happy to lend them. But now, no I won't lend money anymore, maybe services I could extend. Being married and soon my family will be bigger, I save for the future of my family. My husband and I budget everything and we decided that we need to keep something for the house we are trying to buy, we also wanted to buy a car and even though our baby isn't born yet, we have already started saving for the education. Life is tough and now that we are both strong we might start saving. I like this idea. How about you? Do you have any savings? Why do you save? Is it for the rainy days? Have you been successful in saving?

I save as before or when I was young but not coins anymore but paper bills, just the same in some sort of piggy bank ( the value is just too small if it in peso coins), yes I save for health or health problems cause our government just has nothing for us, when it comes to health, to each his own, I also consider my children's education although I already have an insurance plan for that, I know it won't be enough when the time comes.

Health is very important. You're saving for the right thing. If we are sick or anybody in the family is, we are also affected because we cannot work properly. How about the SSS or Philihealth from the government, do you have there?

True. Cash on hand is much better and easier to use. When are we gonna fully rely on our government? Should we always be like this because they are not doing their job well?

oh yes I have them, we even have a "green card" that is for our city only plus an insurance card that I renew yearly ,even then ready cash on hand is very important, in the Philippines it's always better to rely on yourself than put 100% trust on the Government.

I don't save that much but it has been a habit of mine to always keep a piggy bank for the coins left on my purse at the end of the day. It is fun to have a piggy bank especially when you found out that it was already full and heavy. Most of the times, it took me a month or two to dispense all the coins on my piggy bank and deposit them on the bank. Children should be taught the same way, this will be able to help them how to manage and save money for future needs.

Indeed you'll never notice how the little or small coins could be so heavy and big when they are put together. Carry on.

my husband is the one who always tells me to save, i am so bad at it honestly but somehow lately i am starting to do this and hopefully can fully save. We want to have a house of our own and a car too usually things that we need are what we save for..and yes like you we also want to make things better for our children.

I have some savings. I am hoping to be able to buy a house at some time in the future, so I need to continue to save for a deposit. We are doing ok but a little way to go! When I was younger I used to be a very good saver. I had a job at McDonalds and I can remember saving up for big things like a piano when I was just 15. That was quite a task given the amount I was getting paid at the time!

As long as you have goals to reach never give up. Put a time table or duration so you won't be relaxing and there's a little pressure in yourself.

I once had a piggy bank but it was broken by my son since he liked playing with it very much. Yes, we need to save money to avoid waste and buy the thing we really need for our life. Money should be usded at blade. That is our traditional point of view and I think it is reasonable to some extent. We can see the unexpected power of the money save during the global economic crisis these years. The people who spend money wastefully will be very regret for the way they did before.

Oh, that's too bad. I hope you replaced it. It's fun to have that thing. I agree. Money should be used wisely and we never knew when the rainy days will come. It is so difficult to depend on someone for your benefit. Do it yourself right?

good for you for saving for college for your children. it is never too early. plus, its always good to start saving for your retirement when you are young too. we are saving for our retirement right now, although a little late, i honestly don't think that our government will have enough money for us to survive when we retire.

Thanks. We actually wanted to make sure that while we still can we have to start saving. We may never know what the future lies ahead, so at least we have something to get if we badly need some. Well, there is never too late to someone who has started already. I agree, teh government's money is not enough. Glad to know you're doing your own savings. I will share to my husband about retirement ... I wonder how he'll react.

I save money because you'll never know where the road might lead you. I also wanted to have money whenever you need to buy something urgent. I do not have yet my own family but i am preparing for their future that's why I need to work hard to again save money. Besides wanting to help my parents =) They say that 50% of your income goes into your saving. somehow this is quite true for me as for now but I am not sure in the future. So its better to plan and save now than later. Goodluck to us and Cheers

You're a good child. And whoever will be your partner in the future is so lucky. Well, I agree that in life we never knew what kind of road is ahead of us so it is better to be always prepared. Cheers to you!

Ya I have savings, & also it is my start time to earn money, now I am a graduate. Bt I used to save from my childhood, even though it is little. It is always good to try to earn money from any legal way. It will help to maintain ourselves in our future. But giving more importance to money is not good. planned and regular usage of money are good saving some for the future and future generation is more good

I save money to buy our own house. My parents didn't have own house as well so we have nothing to inherit from them. I want my future children to not worry where to live in the future. Because for me, even if you don't have enough money as long a you have place to live and you're with your family, you'll be fine and safe. :)

Same here. My parents were not able to save for the money instead they put it all in my education. I don't mind since life was hard at that time. We are also saving for our house. I agree with your words about living. A family in a safe place is a happy family.
