Writing and the Recycle Bin

I love to write. I have several blogs and I write for them everyday. Sometimes the words and topics come easy and other times I just want to give up. When I find something I like to write about it is fun and when I can't see anything interesting - I feel like just quitting.
There are also times when the words make so much sense and other times I can't seem to find just the write word I am looking for to accurately describe what I am trying to say.
And that reminds me of this quote:
"The wastebasket is the writers best friend."- Issac Singer
Funny thing though, we no longer use pen and paper to write- it is all done on the computer so maybe a more accurate quote might now be:
"The recycle bin is the writers best friend." See what I mean about finding the right words to accurately describe a thought?

Oh, how I know what you mean! Sometimes things sound better in my head than when I go to translate it on paper or computer. lol Also, like your revised quote! Keep on writing!

Thanks. It is getting more fun to write as I get older. I have no idea why but it seems to be more fun and easier for me. Maybe because there are less distraction (or less good tv shows).

My problem is as I get older I have so many ideas in my head for different stories. I think if I could just put all my ideas into one big story/book I'd have it made. But I have different, not similar ideas to combine all together,so that won't be possible.

I had started a blog but I just don't have the energy(medical issues)to work on them daily. I could find the ideas but lack the energy. I think that the wastebasket is one of a writer's best freinds. Like I used to feel the theaurus was. I think revise, revise, revise is important too.

You are so right. I remember I used to have a dictionary and a theaurus on my desk. Now we just look everything up on line. I remember my teachers and parents telling me... look it up, look it up and oh how I hated to do that.

I've been a writer since I was a young woman and that is still something that I really enjoy doing. However, unlike many people, I've never been able to embrace the idea of doing all of my writing on the computer. I still like to have a pen in my hand and a piece of paper in front of me. With that said, I have to say that I've never been one to wad up a lot of paper and throw it away. I will just cross through my errors in the first draft and will not make the same mistakes when I am working on a later draft.
