Have you ever visited a maid cafe or butler cafe? If you have visited one, was it good or bad experience? And if you have been to both types of cafes? Which do you prefer and why? Have you or someone you know ever worked at either of those kind of cafes? My friends have been to Japan and have gone to maid cafes, but they never fill me in on their experience; they always tell me I should go visit one myself to know what it is like. While I know some other countries have some of those cafes, I have never actually went to one. Also,I recently heard about butler cafes, is it true that some of those cafes only hire foreign guys? Lastly, if you consider yourself quite knowledgeable about maid and/or butler cafes, what do you know about these cafes?

Three anime just came to my mind: Maid-sama, Hayate the Combat Butler and Black Butler. Hmmm... Maid and butler cafes? How about cosplay cafes?

Once a few years ago at an Anime convention downtown. IT was alright. I didn't really each much, I just interacted with a bunch of cosplayers (Ash Ketchum, Link who was a girl for some reason, and mario to name some) :p

There is a convention In Dublin Ireland that has one and I have to say that the girls and guys who act the maids and butlers do a really good job of it and give staff and artists alley people free stuff which is absolutely awesome!
Though because it only has a few thousand people attending the cakes aren't all that elaborate just basic chocolate and sponge cakes although they are pretty tasty and are supplied by one of the maids through her catering work so it is nice to support a local business and those cakes although not fancy are mighty tasty.
In terms of foreign guys serving I would say that around 50% of the maids and butlers were avian too but that isn't really surprising considering it was in Dublin think there were some Americans and Swedish people serving too (:
Think it was a good experience overall. You should maybe look into local conventions in your area to test it out to see if it is something you are interested in?

There's always maid and butler cafe's around both Anime L.A. and Anime Expo con season. They both are very nice, but I prefer a handsome butler serving me and making me feel like a princess.
