Today, I am very happy because I received my very first salary. It is not much but you know the feeling of getting a reward for working so hard on something? That's exactly how I felt. Somehow this money feels different than those money I get from my parents or other generous givers. It makes me feel like a useful person. Now, I can be the giver and not the receiver. I will treat my family with this money. They deserve the best from me. They say though that it is hard to spend your hard earned money, but the funny thing is i don't feel sad at all. How about you guys, do you remember your first ever salary? What did you do with your money?

Hi, flapiz! My congretulations!!! You are a really great daughter for your parents. I think it's awesome to get paid for your job. It's not that hard to spend money that you've earned yourslef if you know that you do it for your loved ones. I remember my first salary. I was so happy and i decided to pay my tuition fee and told my parents about it, they were really proud of me. I'm sure your parents are very proud of you too!! I agree it's great to feel useful and you get confident because you are able to make your own money! Good luck!!!

I received my money as my first salary after month of my working as an English teacher in a technique school. I didn't like that job but I felt happy when I had my salary on hand since I can use it to buy the thing I want. Yes, I felt that I can earn money by myself and would never depend on others for life. It is a milestone to be an indepent person, right?

Yes indeed, being an independent person is a milestone in life. I'm glad to have reached it already. Though sometimes I feel like my job is too burdensome, getting paid makes it less of a burden.

Hi Flapiz, Thanks for the response, the feeling after getting first salary is some what different even it may be a little one. I too got 15 dollars as my first salary in the year of 1986, I feel very very happy. That is the greatness of first salary, hand over it to your mother and ask some cash for your pocket money. Have a nice day.

hi! nice to know that you're now earning on your own. Your family particularly your parents would be glad if you will treat them with your first salary. That was the feeling I've felt when my daughter treated me to a fast-food snack with her first take home pay. A simple gesture but gives joy to a mother realizing that my daughter is starting to be independent now.

Congratulations! I forgot how did I feel when I got my first salary. I guess I was so happy that I spent most of them in one day, knowing how I spend money nowadays...

One day? That's a lot of serious spending. May I ask what did you spend it for? That is if you even remember one item.

hi! I remember spending my first salary in buying things for the house. I was really happy, too. It is such an exhilarating feeling. And I also like to treat the family out for lunch or dinner.

You're absolutely right. Receiving the very first salary is one of our memorable achievements. You have the right to spend it and especially you're going to treat your family so don't worry about spending it. You can start saving from your next salary. I spent my salary in buying grocery stocks for our small business and maybe I also had a treat for my family. I couln't remember well but I was so happy receiving it. Enjoy your salary. Happy mylotting.

When I remember receiving my first salary, I could not help it but laugh. I hadn't had touched that sum of money from my own effort. I was a bit shocked and my hands were trembling... I can't believed that I earned that much. It was not really a big amount but at that time having been out of school, that was big enough for me.

I got the same feeling. You know when I graduated my parents stopped giving me allowance. So I don't have money to spend for myself except for the necessities which my parents still provide. Having received my first salary made me feel in control and independent.

Hi flapiz, the first salary bring joy and happiness to us that's why we need to treasure it. When I received my first salary the half of it i gave to my mother as a sign of gratitude and the half was for me where I bought some personal things and a wrist watch, until know the watch is still working and in good condition and reminds me of my first salary ever.

I haven't really bought something for myself for my first salary. But I spent it for family. I bought my sister an expensive bag which she asked me for her birthday and bought a polo for my dad. I gave money to my grandmother and aunt and I payed the internet bill for my mom. I think it still is something well spent. :)

Hi! My first salary is not that much either, but I was very happy with it as it was the fruit of my labor. I spent it with family. I gave some to my granny. I treated my family to dinner. I bought something for my sister, dad, and mom. I got a few left over for savings.
31 Aug 12
I do remember my first salary. It seemed like a lot at the time and I was quite good at saving my money for things that I really wanted. I was only young - 14 at the time, but I was able to save up for things that even my parents and brother were amazed at. Now I don't quite have the same ability to save it seems. The money goes out of my hand much easier these days.

That's so happy to hear from you! You're definitely right, we spent our childhood being the one to receive from our elder. To have our very first salary is so genuine. It's normal to feel like we don't want to spend it but that's just for a while. Go on! Treat your families and friends. From where I'm from, we usually spent majority of our first salary treating our loved ones. It's like wishing ourselves a goodluck on our career. That's what I did, I spent them all! And I must say, I'm in a really stable job since then. Goodluck!

Hey Carl! I've used up all my first salary by now. But I didn't regret it. Mostly it went to family. I realized that it feels good to be generous. :)

Earning from our own effort is an overwhelming, though i didn't enjoyed my first salary then because of my left and right debts, I was busy paying all of those, so I can't relate how that was for me. However afterwards, I had recovered from it and it supports my needs, and could buy what i wanted anytime. I didn't got the chance to treat my parents then, because they're quite far, however, I'd been able to send them money somehow, it wasn't a big amount but that was a heartily given, and I called that "a thank u gift" because my parents wont supposed to accept it. My parents taught me a lot when i started earning, one of it was, "always save 10% from your earnings" and that really helps. I have my own savings account now. Parents really knows best. I give credits to all the parents who never been tired of teaching us, sharing their experiences just to give us a better life.

Dear Butterfly, I am sorry to hear that you weren't able to enjoy your first salary, but yes at least you were able to pay off your debts. It is good to hear about how you succeed after more pay days. Thank you for teaching me also about the value of saving.

The first salary I got was when I was still in college. It was overwhelming for a job that I only did for about 5days! I was so excited and I wished that would continue. What I did with the money, I saved some and bought things for my parents. The first salary is always memorable ey? I sure hope and be thankful that the supply of income is and will always be (hopefully) stable and increasing. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

A money earned from hard work is sweeter to be spend than a money earned by not exerting effort. I remember the first time I received my salary it was really exciting and happiness overwhelms me. I gave the half of my salary to my parents, the other half I spent it for my apartment and for my needs.

Very well said my friend. As long as the money we earned is spent in good, we will not have regrets at all. Even when it is all gone the happiness of others will always stay in your heart.

Yeah, I remember that feeling. It feels so much better than getting pocket money. I got a sense of control after earning my first amount of money, even if it wasn't that much I earned it and nobody else had to give it to me for free. When you get pocket money you're just receiving it but when you work for it, thats when you actually earn it. I remember a lot of kids that if you ask me never deserved pocket money. I remember after I got my first salary I contributed it to buying a new laptop which was something I saving up for at the time.

My first salary was well spent. I gave my grandma 1000 pesos, I gave my aunt and cousin money for ice cream as a first payday treat and I took my family out to a fine dining restaurant. I also bought a school bag for my sister and a polo for my dad. Some of the left overs went to my mom. I felt very useful. It made me so happy.
