Has anime motivated you to pursue life goals?

While it was in primary school my interest in anime blossomed, I did not think about using my interest to pursue a life goal until secondary school. While I was attending secondary school, I met some friends after joining the school's Japanese culture club. Back then, we had so many ideas circulating through our minds about what we each wanted to do in the future. However, it was not until I watched the anime, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, where I made a firm decision on my life goal. That anime allowed me to develop my life goal of working in Japan or at least at a subsidiary of a Japanese company. For those who are not aware of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, it's an anime that has a futuristic cyberpunk setting with a lot of covert operations preventing technology-related crimes. So considering the setting of the anime, I want work in the robotics industry someday. Anyway, has watching anime propelled you to pursue life goals? If so, what are they? Also, if you happen to remember which anime title influenced you, I would also be interested in hearing that as well.

It's to hear that you were able to apply your interest in anime towards your goals. Each of our experiences shape the person we are to become in the future. With anime, it helps develop our creative thinking while allowing us to learn about other cultures. Good luck on accomplishing your goal for creating your own animation. Anyway, thanks for your comment, powerpuffgirls.

Now that's a post I've been anticipating for a long time. The answer is "Yes!" Anime is a whole lot deeper than most cartoons and goes beyond pure entertainment. If you piece together the whole story, you will see lessons that sometimes can be so deep that you have to watch the episode several times to understand. I love anime for two reasons: the art and the depth of the stories. I have learned, in many anime like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Fairy Tail, Princess Mononoke, Kekkaishi, and Fam the Silver Wing, things important in life such as confidence in yourself, the value of friendship, self-reliance, independence, out-of-the box thinking and not allowing yourself to be swayed by the crowd.

This comment is definitely true. Animes have like the most great stories I have ever known and seen. they have unique plots and settings as well. Even if it is kinda weird in some animes but it really gives the viewer some motivations to finish the certain movie/series. :D I LOVE and will forever LOVE ANimes! ^O^ *CHEERS!!!

That's really neat. I can't really say that anime has impacted me enough to motivate me to pursue a life goal, but I did use a couple of shows for motivation. When I was little I use to love the anime show Sailor Moon. I use to feel me and Serena had so much in common because I didn't like school...although I was NEVER late to class. I would tell myself "If Serena can go to school then so can I". lol

There are animes that motivated me. My current favourite is Natsume Yuujinchou. I can relate to Natsume because of the feeling of loneliness is something that I have experienced and I have experienced the meet with nice people who made me think that life is beautiful....that anime reminds me again that life is worth living after all... I don't think it's a real life goals like you but some animes make me being positive about things happened in my life.

Some anime motivated me, but only for the time being. It only has a temporary effect on me.
