The safest way to hold your money is on a debit card

I hate cash. I once had a hundred dollar bill after being paid and took it two blocks to the bank. At the bank it was gone. It was a windy day that day and I remember hearing a person behind me as I approached the bank like two stores down. I heard this person say, "Yes!"...good chances is she found my hundred dolar bill. What was I to do? Even if they were still saying yes and I turned around? Would I say "Excuse me that is my hundred, can I have it please?" ....Yeah right! I hate money its dirty. I only need it for few things and tend to only hold cards in my wallet. I dont have a purse anyway but a diaper bag so I don'y have that choice of either wallet or purse. Do people tend to have both? Younger days before children, I would have a small purse to hold everything. Now that is impossible carrying all the necessities needed traveling with children. I get nervous going to the store for an item without at least wipes and one diaper. But then I think what ifshe explodes and I have to change her diaper but the diaper (disposable) breaks and I'm left without a diaper??!! I am to worried but that is life as mommy I guess. :)
What have been your experiences with money? Money and children? Purses and diaper bags and wallets...oh my!

Hello Friends
I live in Indonesia. In my country, making credit card and debit card is very difficult. Also required a very large cost. It's fun when I have a debit card as you. I hope to have a debit card that safe to online transaction. With payoner maybe. Nice to meet you

Nice to meet you. When I was younger and lived on an island in the carribean her all I carried was a fold wallet for space of one card and folded cash in the back pocket of my jeans. It was dumb and unsafe but I was young and that was all I had. I didnt have children so I didnt have this issue. I wish I was less high maintenence.

hi, tangleddreams84! No matter how heavy the things I have with baby stuff, I always carry my wallet around. I don't feel comfortable if I don't have it with me when I go out of the house. Maybe you should bring a purse with you that can hold your cards and a few bucks and place it inside your pocket or use a sling bag that you can put across your shoulder.

I always use a sling bag unless I have to go downtown and the baby is on my back and I use a backpack instead for the ease of having it in front of me. I have a wallet that I can easily access from there. It is a good suggestion but I have my hands, back, side, front full already so its hard to add a purse. I do use a wallet that has space for cards not change etc. I lost my favorite change purse and havent gotten over it since I kept something special in it. I dont think I ever will get a change purse, I usually dont get change anymore. If I do its for a 25 cent toy at the supermarket for my daughter.

When I use my debit card I get cash back which is awesome so after spending hundreds of dollars I might earn a dollar for it haha. I like not having to worry if I have the exact money in my wallet I can just use my debit card and it takes the money right out of my bank account. I balance my checkbook so I always know how much I have. If I lose my debit card I can cancel the card and without the pin number no one can access my money with an atm and once its canceled the card wouldnt work at all anyway.

My question for you is how do you balance your checkbook and make purchases with cards. I never could when I did that. I just wait for the weekend is over and I find out my true balance since delays with computers. I hate having to write it all down and forgetting an item to ruin the whole thing. Do you itemize or wait for statements in the mail or have an app to see balances?

Just going by the statements isnt good because they dont always show the accurate amount in your account because you might have sent a payment that people might not cash for awhile and then you will think you have more in your account then you do and so spend more and then they cash the payment and your account will bounce because you dont have as much in as you thought you did. When I opened my account I wrote down how much I put in. I add or subtract every payment and so I know the exact amount in my account at all times.

Wow ! That is amazing. I admire your diligence. I couldn't do that. I will have it be a goal one day. Thank you for the inspiration that it can be done.

Oh dear, how could the hundred dollar fly out of your bag without you noticing it?
I would be very sad to lose a dollar.
I think you worry too much about situations that may not even happen.
Just let things be.
If you are caught without extra diaper, just make do with other things that you have or you can buy.

Yes I agree with your question or rather statement, Debit card is the safest form of money these days. There are lot many hassles to carry money everywhere and with all those pennies and children in hands it really becomes very frustrating.
Best of luck to you.

I efer debit cards too. Not because its harder to lose because whether I have cash or plastic I'm always careful with my money, but because of the convenience. When I pay by card I don't have to look for change all I do is put it into the machine type 4 digits and everything is paid for. The only problem with debit cards is that not every place accepts them unfortunately so in those cases I have to rely on the cash I carry around with me.

I too dont carry cash, just the bare minimum that I need and prefer to pay through debit card.I have always preferred debit cards to credit cards since you always stay within limits and spend only what you have with you - all the best and happy mylotting

The best and safest way to hold your money on a debit card is firstly, and most importantly have a very strong password for your PIN. Now you can be safe with using your debit card. Always check your balance using a cash machine and or online banking facilities from time to time on a regular basis. You are safe now with your debit card and enjoy anything you would like to do with your money on your debit card.

What is I wanted to buy a hotdog on the street vendor? Ineed cash? I couldn't buy that with a debit card. I would have to correct that you say anything can be done with the debit card to "almost anything" can be done with a debit card. Thank you for you comment.
