I'm in my 50s thank you. It seems to me that print is just impossible to read anymore. I mean print on everything, aspirin bottles, prepared food packages, anything where you have to read instructions!
I went to an eye doctor only about a little over a year ago and he told me I did not need glasses. I wouldn't argue, I didn't want them. But now I'm finding it really hard to see any print without reading glasses. I picked up a pair from the drug store.
Is it possible I'm doing harm to my eyes with all this myLotting? ;-)

I think it is a conspiracy that the one's who put out this print keep making it smaller and smaller so we think we need those glasses when in reality we don't!
Then once we have the glasses, just to mess with us, they'll make it bigger like it never even happened.

This sounds like a very strong possibility. Never thought of that but you could be right. The thing I can't figure out is why don't they want me to use their product correctly so I'll buy it again. I mean if I microwave a dinner for 8 minutes instead of 3, I'll probably really hate the dinner and never buy it again....unless wait a minute - they make more money on glasses!! I'm seeing this now!

Good point! Silly silly people, they must all have stock in the glasses companies or something because they sure won't make a profit on their tv dinners!
Maybe we are the only one's who thought of this?

I think there is really just one company in the world controlling all of what we buy ;-)

The print IS getting smaller. It's a conspiracy. They're doing it on purpose. I have glasses and a magnifying glass. The only directions I can still read are on a lot of Trader Joe's products. They still have normal size print I can read without glasses. But sometimes - actually a lot of the time - I have to have glasses and a bright light to see anything. They say the eyes are the first to go..... I wonder what's the second thing?

You will like TJ's. I think their prices are really good and they have a lot of organics. I hope you get to go soon. I go every week. It takes about 35 min. to get there but it's a nice country ride so I don't mind. One thing I noticed about them, though. Just when you find something you really like they discontinue it. They do that a lot. Of course they're always bringing in new products, too. But I never spend much there. It seems that no matter how much I buy I'm still not paying a lot.
And your husband, oh.....okay, don't get started!

Thanks on the Trader Joe's advise. We'll go, it's just a matter of finding time to do it. I shouldn't rant about my husband, he's a good guy it's just that he says he can't hear my voice because of the pitch and I always joke about that. It is hard to deal with someone that doesn't really hear you, sometimes he gets mad at me because he didn't hear what I said, it's almost funny, almost... ;-)

Trader Joe products, now there's an idea. We just got a Trader Joes about 10 miles from here. The first week they had lines out the door so we haven't been there yet but my SIL raves about it.
The second thing to go...hmmm...if my husband's any indication, it's hearing. Don't get me started on that topic ;0

I have severe astigmatism. Like if I go without glasses on contacts, all I see are general shapes-EVERYTHING past the end of my nose is blurry! But I learned something recently; last year, I was forced to finally admit that I needed reading glasses WITH my contacts. I cannot focus on any small type with my contacts. That prescription corrects my eyesight to 20/20. Now my glasses are not corrected for astigmatism, so my eyesight with them is 20/30. But I was stunned to see that I was able to read all that small print, as well as focus on close up work! I think that computer monitors cause eyestrain, as well as age. I'm 40 and have been wearing glasses since I was eight years old.

Interesting, so 20/20 doesn't mean you can see perfectly? How odd that with 20/30 you can see small print. Obviously there's more to this. I think I'll go and if I have to I'm thinking of getting transition lenses so I won't have to remember sunglasses too!

I'm 47-- and in the space of 6 MONTHS between my appointments, I needed bifocals. Apparently if you get sick, or your hormones change, the shape and flexibility of your eyes change. I thought it might be the computer too, but he said it just happens to "older women like you". He was about 25, wearing a mickey mouse tee shirt. I got the glasses-- and changed doctors.

You did the right thing in changing doctors. I amy have had trouble resisting the urge to lean across the table and slap his face

Don't you love it when you know you're old enough to be your doctor's mother. Sometimes I have a hard time taking them seriously, and that might not always be right.
Maybe I'll go back to the eye doctor and check.

I would check if Iwere you, because lots of things can cause sudden vision change-- even a lot of medcines. At least I can read again! When I switched doctors after I moved up here, I made sure all my doctors were OLD LOL

It is definitely you are getting older, if print on 'everything' is getting smaller to your eyes. It is a fact that you can hardly deny as every passing day add to your age line. Mylotting also doing harm to your eyes if you stay long enough to further strain them, it is another undeniable fact. I think your optometrist is capable to tell you whether you need reading glasses or not, may be it is time for you to pay another visit for your own sake without my further comment. Have a nice day!

Now I know that I should go again. I always took it for granted because I've been fortunate and had not needed glasses but I think the time has come to admit this isn't true anymore.

You probably do need them now and perhaps should get them checked out. I fyou don't like wearing glasses then you may be a suitable candidate to start wearing contact lenses. Check with your optician. The good news is that as you get older the sight does not change too much. Now you have reminded meof a story to share on MYLOT. Blessings

Thanks, I know, I know and I don't care about wearing them really. It's the remembering to and not losing them. Seems the majority here thinks I should go see the doctor, so you win! ;-)

Reading glasses picked up from the store won`t hurt your eyes and will make reading easier. My eldest daughter got her first reading glasses at 40 years of age. I agree with you though the they are making letters smaller each day. A couple of weeks ago I got a new shampoo. The instructions were in tiny yellow letters with a light green background. Now that is dumb! Don`t you think? Take care.

I am also wearing glasses right now.
I just reach 40's but can't see clearly with far views - hehehe.
I stayed mylotting till I drop (ahaha)can't avoid the addiction.
So far I don't have any problem or encountered problem with reading or typing.
Just one thing I never do--- NEVER WASH MY FACE AFTER MYLOTTING, or after staying a long time in front of computer.

I had been wearing glasses since early twenties starting at 150 grade which rose to 500 at my fifties. My sights seems to have improve after mid fifties and now i'm wearing a 400 grade glasses. Ophthalmologist's explanation was normally our eyesight tends to return to normal at 60s. Don't know if this is true but i know i have a clearer vision now than before or maybe the natural food supplement that i am taking had something to do with this just as it has improved my other physical discomforts too.

Thanks for the tip. I do try to read it under the brightest light in the house and it doesn't work, maybe I'll try outside. I'm thinking glasses are the way to go after most of these responses, so I think I will try another doctor.

it is kind of hilarious, its not about being old.even though you are getting old,the vision keeps getting blurred,so keep focussing and also make sure that you test your eyes once more to know well

Well I am definately not qualified to make the statement that
you are doing harm to your eyes with all your mylotting...but
if your eyes have become the least bit weak you may now need
glasses...
I always wear my watch to bed and it was the first thing I did
in the morning when I woke up..Well one morning I woke up looked
at my watch and could not see it,,,I honestly could not see the
time, just like that...over night...
I agree with you that prints is smaller and I am getting older.
LOL...no need to be vain, it is what it is....
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!!!

OK, you're right I know. It's not vanity, it's remembering to wear them, or remembering where I put them. Another getting older problem.
