Yes, I think I am I the market for a new umbrella. My last one was definitely out of service after it battled with Habagat. And that own wasn’t cheap. I decided when I was buying it that since it we are anticipating storms and rain, I would buy a decent umbrella – meaning a rather expensive one to make sure it will last and keep me dry. Yes, I did last for a short while. I tried many umbrellas - cheap ones from your local Taiwanese/Korean store and the ones from the department store. I even tried to salvage some by having them repaired by a local repairman (for umbrellas). And then, they lost to the winds. So, how many umbrellas did you lost in the storms. Do have an back-up umbrella in case the one you are holding turns out blown away?

Well I am not really into umbrellas and I have one in here kept for many years. It had seen so many storms that is why it is some kind of dilapidated already. I do not even remember where I bought this one but so far it has been with me for years already. But pretty sure one of these days I will have him retired since I could see some small holes already whenever I use is and several of its arms are already broken already.

I know you will gonna ask for that. I checked it and the brand name is "UMBRA" the art of umbrella. Funny name but so far it lasted me about a couple of years or more since I forgot when I last purchased this umbrella. It has seen so many storms indeed and was stretched overturned and everything but now it has I guess a couple or three arms broken. I think it needs to be retired already.

I guess that umbrella has see many storms and rain - probably much better since our rains and storms are already becoming stronger over the years. At least, you got what you paid for that umbrella. Hope they will manufacture the same kind of quality. What brand is that umbrella?

right timing topic for me yvonne ^.^ because i just bought an ultraflat fibrella at SM. Well, i've always wanted to buy a branded umbrella for the reason that cheap ones won't last long at my hands. No matter how careful I am handling those cheap umbrellas, it would still getting damaged for just a month old. i am fed up to the idea that's why I buy the branded fibrella.

At my hands, those cheap umbrellas won't last for less than a moth...even with the proper care and drying. I guess it really could be helped. I guess I am gonna find myself soon paying for another branded umbrella and hope it will last for more than a year.

That's too bad. I always bring an umbrella but seldom use it. If it's a heavy rain, I stop in a place I could wait for the rain to stop or the wind to go away. I usuallt us eth umbrella for drizzles and sunny days. I think I have lost one or two so since then I had been careful. In my case, I forgot them. So I got some scolding so I also bring a jacket to prevent me from using the umbrella.

I guess you cover your bases. But I also bring one - you can never be sure with the weather these days. At least, I could not blame myself for not bringing one and to get scolded because I forgot to bring one. In my case, I always had an umbrella in my bag but I seldom bring a jacket, especially since they also take too much space in a bag.

Hi, I never use umbrellas for that matter. Strange, but I managed to dodge the rains and getting home without getting wet. I think it is a matter of timing, I am good at looking at the sky and predicting when it rains and when it will stop. Sometimes I just manage to get home in downpour getting a bit wet but then not really dripping wet for, as I have said, it just a matter of timing. When caught in a real downpour, all I have to do is wait for the rescue from home, having given previous instructions to fetch me in case I can't make it by closing time.

You're lucky then. Sometimes, I also use that method but there are other times when it cannot be helped but go into the rain and bare the winds and the wet. In addition, sometimes people in my house get worried that I go home dripping form head to toe but I always managed to go home somewhat dry and still in one piece. I get a free bowl of hot soup or coffee for that effort.

oh well i think my mom buys umbrella every time or should i say every year. i remember when i was in high school cheap umbrellas range from 35 to 50 pesos, now cheap umbrellas price is 100-250 and honestly these umbrellas will not last long. its a china made products, its out of quality. i also remember i bought a sale umbrella when i was in college, its 199 and bought it in a department store. the brand was UV and it did last for 3 years until someone borrowed it and didn't returned.

The I guess that you had to buy another umbrella of the same quality or the same brand. I understand that but the, I was looking for a cheap alternative and anything to cover my head from the rain. But I learned my lesson and learned to invest in a good umbrella. At least, I won't worry it breaking down when I needed it.

Haha.. I dont have a spare umbrella..The last time that me and my umbrella battled a strong wind..the wind blew my umbrella inside out..with me fighting hard to stand my ground..it was very embarrassing and I just closed it since it was automatic..

That incident also happened to me. Thank God I had a jacket at that time so I didn't get wet as much. also, there was a building nearby so that I could take shelter from. That particular umbrella was serviceable for a few times before it finally gave out and I had to buy a new one.

branded umbrellas will last long. I normally buy mine at SM malls and price range from 600 and up. I prefer folded automatic ones (that would fit inside a bag) for they would last for almost two years if i am the only one using it as i am careful of my things. However i already bought 2 this year as the first one was borrowed by a friend and unluckily was returned defective.

That also my reason for buying umbrellas I department stores. I think I had 3 local umbrellas before I finally decided that they were really not worth it. I have bought mine form Robinson and was forced to buy one again because somebody took my umbrella. of course, nobody will admit it but at least I had protection over my head.

to be honest, I do not bring umbrellas, I have a tendency to lose them!, Last time my mom gave me an expensive black umbrella way back when I was in college and i lost it the first time i brought it to school . I don't know but i prefer jackets and raincoats cause it keeps both of my hands free especially in an emergency situation. Yes have the good ones repaired cause it gives employment to our countryman, it's a simple umbrella, wonder why Philippines cannot produce a good quality one, it might be a little expensive but I would surely recommend it.

I can relate to your situation. I often lose my umbrella in public places with other umbrellas. I think that when I am in public, some people will try to get not their own umbrella and replace with another – whether they look more durable or more beautiful. This happened to me 2 times already. Balancing an umbrella is also a tricky one – especially if you have strong winds or rain. I agree that without an umbrella, the hands are free but I cannot survive without one because I will definitely be drenched. About our country not able to manufacture a good umbrella – 8i don’t know why but that certainly made me wonder as well. We should have study umbrellas because we suffer from rain and storm. In addition, even in the middle of intense heat, we also use to shield form the sun.

I would say I have lost at least ten umbrellas because of those raging wind and rain. Recently I purchased a Fibrella, i think that was worth around 400php and guess what, after 2 months, I left it at Starbucks and darn! the umbrella was gone after 5 minutes! Now, I purchased a Pasio umbrella two weeks ago and it was cheaper by a hundred to Fibrella and thank heavens, it still is with me.
