Wew!! I really couldn't believe I got to work with something I hated when I was still studying. Bank Reconciliation was the hardest lesson I ever encountered yet here I am, nothing to do but face the fact that I have to deal with this until I stop working in this firm.Oh, feels like my head's about to burst.

Everyone who is into accounting will really meet that when they work in this line.
It's really head wracking, specially when you cannot balance it.

Absolutely! I loved the emoticon you used...It really described how I actually felt while doing such work.

That's what we really feel when no matter how much we try to do the trial balance it couldn't be in balanced.
I just have one tip though. In balancing transactions , when it is divisible by 9 , do you know that it could just be transposition?

Yes, It actually was taught when we were in college. The reconciliation process itself was a bit easy, but then I am doing a SPES reconciliation. I don't know if you're familiar with SPES. Well, in a month, there are thousands of checks negotiated so I find it hard to take the outstanding check balance. I sometimes mistook the check numbers since it only has a little variance as to arrangement.

I understand what you are going through, specially during the end of the month, we need to close and balance everything before the next banking day. Then doing the reports, FS and updating everything. I also hate Mathematics when i was studying, never thought i will also be a bookkeeper. :)

I believe it's not more of the "mathematics" thing. Simple mathematics plus more of accounting. I believe we share the same feeling. Accounting is really stressful.GRRrr

Yes friend I can understand your pain. I have worked on this type of job for some time. Yes it is frustrating. I think one should use some technology and new features available for reconsecration, it reduces time and effort also.

It really is very much frustrating. It consumes time really. Maybe a database which automatically compares the outstanding checks with those negotiated in the bank and directly take out those that shouldn't be included in the outstanding balance anymore.lol...but that database would really cost too much that they might just choose to fire me and just buy such costly program :(
