Animals will be animals but it makes me wonder who wasn't watching the dog at the time it dug up your garden. Should have been stopped before it got too bad. I cant' grow anything over here, no room, but wish we could...
I love squash though, especially spaghetti squash!

I tilled up half my yard to get it ready to plant grass and both my dogs just loved it. It's really hot here so I guess all that cool soil was just more than they could resist.
I knew it was going to cause a problem when I sowed the grass seed so the only solution was putting up my electric fence.
It worked. They got a little sting and stay on their side of the yard now. Next year I'll let them have access to the fenced in side and then sow seed on the other side.
May you need to fence it off your garden next year.

That really stinks that the dog dug up the garden. I would have to guess that your parents didn't even offer to replace your plants for you either. But, it is kind of a good thing that the squash plants have taken over the garden because it is just now starting to be the time of the year when you will be able to harvest squash. It would be my guess that within the next several months that you will end up with more squash than you will know what to do with it.

I have not grown an zucchinn or squash yet, just some tomato plants and pepper plants in containers, but next year I hope to get someone to make a box for me. I will have to go to Roma's and get the planks and the screws to make the box and either to WalMart or Superstore to get the dirt to fill it. I have seen people have corn in their box planters as well and I will want to have some salad vegetables and a strawberry planter as well.
So maybe next year. Mind you I do not like mowing the lawn not with the lawn mower being hard to start, and perhaps reducing it by putting in some box gardens would help. And if the plants are close enough so no weeds can get in.

Wow, what was he digging for I wonder. I have not seen as many ground hogs here but they have taken some of the garden edibles, not as bad as last year and ate my entire pumpkins, squash and even sunflowers and more. My eggplant (the fruit not the plants) just turned a wierd yellow and I have no idea why that was. But the mosquitoes are kind of rampant again and I can't go out unless I slather myself with a ton of repellant (uck!), or wear long sleeves or long pants which is also inconvenient. I just want to be able to go out in the yard and not have to worry about any pests like these hogs and skeeters, they are so annoying. The skeeters are ten times as bad as the hogs though now.
