It's my 3 year old boy's first time to go to school. He ate his breakfast and changed clothes. On the way to school, he does not seem excited. I guess he is feeling anxious because he's never been there. I am wondering what you guys do to prepare kids for school so that they wake up every school day and excited to go.

Hi friend, i too have 2 sons, really it is hard to maintain the kids and prepare. Two of my kids are interested in going to school, some times they are not interested in school due to sick, illness or some other details, at that time i will encourage them to go to school and tell about the importance of education

i think 3 years is very small age.you should send him to school atleast when he is 5 years old.now how to make him excited.i think its little difficult.you should asure him that he will really enjoy there.he will make different friends and will enjoy there more than at home.he will learn good activities.and things like those which children ususally like.

Oh, just tell him good things about school. Tell him that he'll gain more playmates there. He learn and play at the same time. I hope his teacher is good enough to catch his attention and he or she should provide enjoyable activities in order for him to get motivated in going to school. Happy mylotting. Goodluck to you and to your son.

I was a very self-motivated little boy. And I 'made' my mom take me to 'school' (really, daycare ... Springwater Children's House, I think it was) so that 1) I could make new friends & 2) I could expand my mind.
The friend-gathering went on into elementary-school. I remember that every new school-year I would have my 'best-friend for the year' picked out on the first day-or-so.
I think I 'stopped doing that' (except maybe in the back of my mind) in 5th or 7th grade, but I remember telling some guy in the playground on the first day of 1st grade, "You are now my best-friend!

Why should a 3 year old be excited or happy to go to school??? It's us who seem to think it's normal. For 3 years old it's normal to stay at home with their mom. School is stress for most kids/people already since a few generations. Also kids at that age are not really playing together with other kids, they just start to disover who they are, what they like. I don't think there is any need to press him to be excited to go to school, he has plenty of years to go to school, let's hope in the end the memory of his schooltime is a good one.

I always try to make my kid feel motivated and looking forward by mentioning things that sound amusing, such as new things they will be doing in class, meeting friends, games they might be playing. The key is to keep him looking forward as if every day he will be discoverng and learning something new.
It is also a good idea to give him a favourite toy to accompany him to school. I used to put it in the satchel Then when s/he comes out of school I would give a small toy/sweets as a gift for being good.
