There are so many beliefs that people seek for a good fortune. A good example, people pick their lucky charms from Chinese shops, in the form of gem stones; others believe that an aquarium with fishes fixed in their settlement can bring luck to their businesses. For a plant lover like me, we used to plant various kind of flowers. Some housewives had this "money plant" in front of their premises, to attract prosperity in the family. If the "money plants" have abundant floral and bear a lot of red-berry like, it is a sign of having fortunes. I don't know if it is a myth for some old folks, who passed on from one generation to another. It is surely make the house so cozy to live in. I used to talk to them, while drizzling water to their pots. As they said, they have also feelings.

My sister in law married a half-Chinese. So as years pass by, she has somewhat adopted some Chinese beliefs, too. She always call me up atleast a week before Chinese New year and tells me to buy this and that so that I can attract good fortune, good health, etc. I really am not a believer of this, but still, I give in to all her stories about what would happen if I do buy these so-called lucky charms. I buy these charms coz I like to wear colorful bracelets.

I think you are not the only one who talks to the plants. I heard from someone who told me that she talked to the plants and they became more beautiful after listen her nice words. But whether the plants have feelings or they can listen, I doubt it.
About the beliefs that people have about fortune, I think they really exist, the beliefs. And people put their hope on them. I think these beliefs are characteristical of some cultures in the world.

My boss's family is from India and they are very superstitious. They have a money plant, an aquarium, a horseshoe over the door and they pray over the money in the cash drawer. They have several god statues about too. I do not have the same belief system as they but I do not begrudge them the right to believe as they please. I find it interesting how others view the world.

Yes. beliefs condition fifty per cent of our lives. These cannot be reasoned out. We bought Chinese dolls (stout and sitting posture) thinking it brings fortune.

Hi.
We also have 'money plant' in my childhood. There is a belief attached to it that whose money plant flourish well they get more money. This is only belief and nothing else. There are many beliefs in our life and many people act accordingly. Money plant is a beautiful plant and it has decorative value also. Green plants have pleasing feeling to our eyes.

Hello my friend iola2012 Ji,
Well, we too believed same thing about money plants, we have since more than 40 yrs at a regular basis, whereever, we shifted we carried with us. There is also saying attatched that it should be brought from somewhere without the notice of owner, means by stealing from someone's premises. Then it grows and money remains in the house. But we have never observed lot of red-berrry like.
May God bless You and have a great time

I really don't believe that there is any kind of decoration that I can have in my life that is going to bring me future fortune, but I sure wish that I was able to have that kind of belief because I have certainly been through more than my fair share of problems financially in my life.
So, when it comes to the way that I decorate my house, I just choose things that make me feel comfortable and that make my house feel like a home.

I once had to do a project about Feng Shui. When researching for my presentation I found out that in Feng Shui, green and lucky bamboo are taken as the sign of prosperity and money. In California, many Asian businesses keep lucky bamboo in their offices. I cannot tell if this helps them make profit. In our house, we have that bamboo too, but I don't see any change in your amount of money. I think it is all a myth. My friend's house is full of those plants, but her family is always struggling to keep money. But yes, I do think that cats bring in prosperity. I remember once I started adopting cats, things changed for my family for good. But that was in the 90s. I do see that some people who upload cat videos on youtube are becoming very rich. It could all be just in my head. Strangely, in Japan, they believe that calicos bring prosperity.

It's funny how people can be superstitious, they would do everything or anything to get money into their house.
Never believed in those but I like fortune plants as ornaments. They are such a beauty to display in and out of the house.

My mother who is also fond of taking care of plants do believe too that there are certain plants which attract financial success specially those that are without thorns. Maybe because plants emits oxygen, therefore people with many plants in the surroundings can breathe easily, therefore having more energy to work harder. But plants do attract fortune... like my mother who is selling some of her plants and re-planting again. It also her therapy from sadness because my father was gone more than a year ago.

All these things are related with Feng Sui.I have no idea about whether these things bring prosperity in our lives, but can't laugh off the claim either.I have never used these things, but I know that the universe is mysterious and there are still a lot of things in it about which we are in the dark.So it is impossible for me to viindicate or reject the claims.

"Money doesn't grow on trees" is a phrase here in the States, and I'd guess other places as well. I don't know of any of those kinds of beliefs about plants or fish, I've heard of "lucky" charms, that are supposed to bring you good luck, but never really understood the belief.
Oh well, the roomie doesn't understand my belief in God either.
