Today, 5 September would have been the 66th birthday of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of rock group, Queen, who passed away on 24 November 1991. Queen is a legendary rock group with many classic hits such as 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Don't Stop Me Now', 'We Are the Champions', 'We Will Rock You', 'Love of My Life'....

Freddie Mercury was very talented. He wrote most of the Queen's best selling songs. He was known for his electrifying live performances. Freddie Mercury was a Parsi grew up in Mumbai, India. He moved to England when he was 17 and studied art in a polytechnic. He then joined with Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon to form Queen.
I have listened to his songs for more than 37 years, and every time I still moved with the songs. How about you?

I miss Freddie. He indeed was a great singer. I knew he was from India. My most favorite song of his was 'Another One Bites the Dust" which was on the Soul stations in Detroit when I lived there in the seventies early eighties. Although she cannot take his place, I am proud that my friend Jessie J sang that song at the Olympics.

I heard quite a bit about him on the radio when driving and read various references to him in the papers, but I'd no idea he was a Zoroastrian. Just shows that however noble the ideas of Zoroastrianism are (and indeed they are), they aren't enough to save you - Only Christ can do that.

Hi jkct: I was born in 1988 so I must admit I don't know too much about Mercury's life but I have heard some of his greatest hits and I know he is the biggest rock start born in Asia. He is actually one of the biggest rock stars in rock history.

I've also listened to his songs many times and I do it again and again because he is immortal through his music.I'm sure many of the singers and bands who are so popular in mainstream music today will almost be forgotten in a couple of decades, but Queen and Freddie Mercury, the best voice and the greatest showman in rock music, will always move people with their great music.Freddie left the Earth much too early, but the legacy he left behind is great and it will always fill our hearts with joy whenever we listen to his music.

I know who Queen is!
A couple days ago I saw a performance of them on the Audience channel with a young guy in Freddie's place. It sounded alright but nothing like him of course.
My favorite song of there's is Bohemian Rhapsody, I love that one, it is so fun!
I have a few others that I enjoy but that is the one that I always listen to the most.

jkct02, you have taught me so many new things today. I also am a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury. I must confess that I knew not what a Parsi was until I looked it up just now. I have even a greater regard for Freddie Mercury now that I know of his distinguished heritage. He was without a doubt one of the greatest songwriters and singers of all-times. His imprint upon the world will be everlasting.

truley a great entertainer. that dreaded aids has gotten so many of our great show people. i think the problem is they live on the edge to much. thinking nothing can get them. then we loose them. its a good thing they leave something behind we can still watch and listen to

I love Queen and I really like the way that their music was incorporated into the opening games of the London Olympics. I really don't think that there is a person alive that is not familiar with their music as it is music that is truly iconic.
Many of their songs have been used in movies, such as Bohemian Rhapsody in Wayne's World, We are the Champions was used in all of the movies in the Mighty Ducks franchise. However, I do have to say that what makes Queen music the most iconic is the song We Will Rock You as it is very commonly played at live sporting events.
