Well, I just read now that Senator Sotto is not pushing any anti-blogging bill. He will really put in super hot water when he do it just because he claimed he is being cyber bullied. That's the result of his discourtesy and even made a rude remark of "just a blogger". I am a mommy blogger though it is not my source of income because I am just doing it part time, it is not good hearing this comment from a well respected senator. It is painful that bloggers are of huge help to many people and advertisers. Admit it or not bloggers are very influential nowadays. I am not saying all bloggers are good because there's some who are using blogging to blackmail other people. But in general, bloggers do influence people a lot. I hope Senator Sotto will think straight and admit he has done a mistake. Bloggers just need an apology from him. I really don't mind if he don't apologized but just be careful next time. However, it seems he is not learning from his mistkae because just recently another clear plagiarism was done by him.

If it were "just a blogger", he would not be affected that much. Our media-tv, radio, newsprint, are all controlled by some oligarch, and internet is the only medium left that can't be controlled. Silencing all bloggers is not the solution to errant blogging or even cyber bullying. They must do something, but clearly not ban all blogging. Whatever happened to democracy?! I am not a blogger, but I follow a lot of blogs, and you're right - they're helpful.

You are right. If they will pass an anti-blogging bill then they are oppressing the freedom of speech. There are much important bills they should pass. Senator Sotto must move on if he is not affected with bullying as he claimed. He should just work and don't mess with bloggers as he pointed as "just". Thanks for the response.

I’m in the same boat as glorycam. I think the senator is becoming too much preposterous on his claims. The net is free from all kinds of censorship unless the blogger itself moderates his or her own blog. We are much ‘freer’ online compared to traditional forms of media. Then again, I think this so called bill is just a smokescreen.

@jeanneyvonne: I am thinking that could it be just a way to make netizens afraid of him and stop bullying him as he claimed. Anyway, I just hope he think first before he speak and that he reviewed his speech thoroughly so he had avoided such scene. He wanted it this way, so he get the dose of his own medicine. Thanks for the response.

Many are laughing at him because he make a stand for something that is wrong. Then he will say that bloggers are just bloggers and those posting against him just want to gain fame. He is being controversial so he must take all these negative publicity against him.

He is either ignorant or very stubborn man. I don’t know which one is worst. If we are all comediennes, what does he make out to be then? But then again, if this is an act, it is in a fit between laughing and annoyance.

He is pretty safe from his position here since he just won the last election and he has until 2016 in his term as a senator. I really think he has plenty of time to reform his ways and the public might just forget these incidents. Although this happened twice already which is kind of becoming a habit of him.
I really do not know about this anti-blogging bill but it is supposed to target those blogs that tend to bully or malign someone on the net. I think it should be anti-cyberbullying bill that should be the right title for this bill since not all blogs are used to bully someone over the net.

Yeah, it should be anti-cyberbullying. I wonder why it became anti-blogging bill. Maybe because those people writing against him are bloggers and are very influential. You are right, not all blogs bully people. Mine is a mommy blog but sometimes I also express my own opinion on matters like this. However, expressing one's opinion is very different from bullying. Thanks for the response.

Oh come on! Please just put him back now in Eat Bulaga! He is a national shame of the Philippines. He denies that he is pushing the anti-blogging bill but then if he attempt to do so then that could be ridiculous and immature thought just because he was being cyber bullied. He deserves to bullied that way because of the remarks that he gave. What if people say he is just celebrity that is why he doesn't deserve to be a Senator?

I agree that he deserves to be corrected and he should not act like a petulant child when the public corrects him. He is there because of the public’s vote and he should carry the title of a senator with good grace, Unfortunately, he doesn’t in any inch of the title. I just hope that more people will be vigilant in reactions like these.

Hi,
There's no way anybody can regulate the internet, for now, unless someone gets the savvy of cutting off anybody who speaks against his principles. It is still a free world, a kind of frontier where the east meets west where one can find all kinds of information and (dis)information.

I really don't know how the anti-blogging bill will work if ever, but I know you can block websites in a particular country. There are many bloggers in the Philippines and I am one of those. I am a mommy blogger who just want to help moms like me.I just hope this anti-blogging bill will never push through. Thanks for the response.

i'm glad he's not doing it cause it would be useless anyway and to be fair I don't think the good senator is that stupid, it's gonna spell the end of he's political career

a pleasant day shylade,
in addition to what you have posted, well, the news was too sensationalized and over published. as a result, the issue became big and commented by different media networks. aside from that, different opinions has been raised up. as a consequence, the issue became much more bigger and more complicated. hence, sometimes, a simple word is enough to make the issue stop.

I agree with you. Media people make this big thing and I think Senator Sotto too. I know he knew it will be this big after his speech and he got want he want. However, now he is crying foul over the cyber bullying. So he just get the dose of his own medicine. He is the one who started this and this will end by him too. Thanks for the response.

Hi shylade. I was able to know the news about this but I do not have much time to look into the matter deeply. That is why I do not know the update. But then I hope this issues to be resolved soon as there are so many things more important than this to be discussed in the senate.
