I think you need to find out why your parents say no. Are there any practical problems? Is someone in your family allegic to animals? Do you live in a place where pets aren't allowed? If there are no practical problems and your parents "just" don't like the idea of a dog in a the house I think that you should talk to them and find why they are against idea. Some people don't want pets because they think that a pet is a big responsibility, because they think that pets make a mess, because they think that pets are expensive or simply because they don't like animals so you need to find why your parents say no. If they are worried about the mess, tell them that you will take care of it. If they are worried about the extra work, them that you will take care of your dog's needs and that they don't have to feed the dog, take it for a walk and all those things. If they are worried about the money that the dog costs tell them that you will pay for the food, toys, visits to vet etc.

So cute. I think you will have your dog. Show your parents that you can be responsible and believe in your heart that you will have your dog. Give him a name. Picture him in your heart. You will have him. ...or her.

According to your profile, you are 22 years old. Which, in my opinion, is old enough to give the responsibility of a pet to. Often times, though, children ask for pets, promising to take care of them but in the end, the parents are the one ending up taking care of them instead. If any such things have happened in the past, this could be the reason you can not have a dog. Or perhaps there are other reasons you can't have a dog? Is your house suitable for a dog? Does your current lifestyle (work/school) allow you with enough time to take care of it? Is anyone allergic? My dad is allergic to cats, so it took a lot of persuading for me to get a cat. Luckily, my mom also wanted a cat, and my brother still lived in the house, so the three of us promised and convinced my dad that every responsibility would be ours. Eventually he agreed. (And he loves the cat, too!) If you could get anyone else in your household to side with you and support you, you could be stronger in your ways of persuading your parents to get a pet dog. Are you allowed to have any other pets? Perhaps first you need to prove responsibility. This you could for example do by taking care of a small rodent, or a pet bird.
