Three minutes in hell - the God vote at the DNC

When questioned about the removal of God and the statement that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel from the Democratic Platform, DNC Chairman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz refused to give a definitive answer, finally determining that it might have been technical error but it doesn't matter, because everything in the platform means the same thing, or something like that.
But the Obama campaign asserted on Tuesday that they stood by the platform as written, with God left out.
Anderson Cooper: "But let me just again point out that this is the same person who last week or two weeks ago was attacking the Romney campaign saying that it is the candidate who sets the platform, who designs and writes the platform"
But suddenly, when they discovered that people noticed and cared, it was a "technical error".
Then came the ultimate moment. They re-inserted God and Jerusalem into the platform and took a floor vote on the changes. Three times. Three times because the first time, it was clear that there were more people shouting "No" than there were shouting "Yes". By the third time, without much change in the outcome, they declared it a two-thirds majority vote - without a count, without any verification and definitely in spite of the obvious, that the floor motion failed. A chorus of booing rose up from the disaffected delegates who had shouted "No" with all their might.
Anderson Cooper asked Wasserman Schultz about the vote. She proclaimed that she heard no discord (she couldn't hear the boos?) and that it definitely was a two-thirds majority but on what she wasn't clear since she said there were no changes.
To which Cooper declared her to be living in an alternate universe.
“I just got to go to the panel with this. I mean, Debbie Wasserman Schultz said it wasn’t a change of language, there was no discord that we saw, and it was a two-thirds vote.
“And it was a technical oversight,” added David Gergen.
“I mean, that’s an alternate universe,” replied Cooper.
After this debacle, can anyone but the faithful Obama supporters - the ones who would vote for him no matter what happens - even consider voting for this ticket? It isn't even whether they believe or don't believe in the two points that they removed and then added to the platform (although they can't believe, or they wouldn't have taken it out to begin with) it's that they will pretend to believe or disbelieve in something, to stand for or against, depending on which way they think the media and the voters will view the issue.
That is pandering on a gigantic scale. That is an alternate universe. But the election is about this universe, this nation and it's real future. It's not about winning a personality contest or being the most popular with the coolest motto by your school picture.
Three minutes that might have handed the election to Romney. Because the average American isn't that dumb.
What did you think?

How ANY Christian could vote the democratic ticket for the past 20-30 years is beyond me. Voting for them this time around should be impossible, but there will be some out there that will rationalize that "they didn't mean to" or it was just an oversight--bull pucky! The democratic party has become an atheistic, humanistic, agnostic bunch of habitual liars. The truth is nowhere to be found in them. I'm not saying the republican party is much better but at least they haven't deserted the core values of their platform and members.

I became aware yesterday that one thing wasn't put back IN. The one thing they LEFT OUT was the designation of Hamas as a terror group. You'll remember that the Palestinian president teamed up with them during his bid at the UN for statehood. And Israel PM Netanyahu said as long as you are partnered with a terror group, Israel will NOT negotiate. Well, Hamas is no longer considered a terror group by our president. How nice.

I guess I see this fiasco differently than most. I think this was intentionally botched to cover something else. A little slight of hand. Hey, while everybody gets their panties in a bunch over this, we won't have to talk about the real issues.
I am sure you and most people here know that party platforms are meaningless. You can not be everything to everybody. It just doesn't work.
Lets focus on the facts. Do we want an America with opportunity and freedom? or do we want an America that is for the government by the government. Where we are all prisoners being told what we can and cant eat, drink, buy, think.
Screw the platform, I want government out of my life.

The average American might not be that dumb but I've been hearing things that are worse than dumb today. Like, corporations should not be allowed to have profits, that they should operate at a loss so the workers can have higher wages and prices can be lower. What?! What is wrong with these people?! They're probably the same ones that want God out of the platform and don't want to acknowledge Jerusalem.
I find willful ignorance disgusting and there seems to be an awful lot of it this election cycle.

When you consider the issues that are important to the Democrats, it's no wonder God, at least, was taken out of their platform. It's also obvious why He was put back in, and it wasn't because they wanted him back. It was their image and the possibility of lost votes that returned Him to their platform. The problem, though is that too many voters heard the floor vote and it wasn't in favor of God and Jerusalem.

I never thought about that. Perhaps you're right.

Maybe GOD took Himself out of their platform? cause He is so disgusted with their anti life stance? Their anti Israel stance? Maybe THAT is why it mysteriously disappeared as Wasserman Shutlz intimates? Maybe those three times voting NO were comparable to Apostle Peter's denying Christ three times?
The liberals have shown us their TRUE COLORS with this fiasco.

Debrakcarey, you wrote ..."Maybe those three times voting NO were comparable to Apostle Peter's denying Christ three times?" Wow ..earth shattering really.. epic.. the way America has lost her way, slamming the door on God so many times.. They can be happy part of America prays.. Every time Conservatives win elections, it delays calamity down the road.. who knows? Maybe a corner could be turned where America doesn't have to experience some of the things lurking in the shadows, ready, I'm thinking, for her decline.. We certainly don't have to make it easy for them.

Despite the smoke and mirrors, we do get little glimpses into the true nature of the democrat party and what it is really all about. If you think about the founding of this country and what the founders intended it to be, the democrat party stands for pretty much the exact opposite. I truly hope the average American isn't that dumb, but unfortunately, there sure seems to be an awful lot of them that are. There are so many that simply buy EVERYTHING that the democrats spew out of their mouths. They blindly take it as fact and truth, then celebrate how wonderful and brilliant their politician is, even when the speech had no basis in fact. I guess there is no hope for the party faithful. We'll have to hope there are enough independents that can still think and reason.

Hello Rollo. In three/four months from now America will vote for her President. Whether it will be Obama or Romney it will be just the same dog without or with the different collar. Politicians are politicians always planning and acting only to their best selfish interests. This must be, even to eliminate and "kill" God in the process. And this is happening not only in America but in most of the countries of the world. God is being taken out of the picture that they may proclaimed themselves as gods. The bright side is, JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK.

You're absolutely right about mankind declaring itself to be gods. It's their theory of evolution (which is filled with big holes!) which declares a person to be the higher power..

Maybe she needs to get her hearing checked. Her health insurance should cover an ear exam. She could always go to the ER for hearing loss.
I think this is one of the weirdest stories coming out of the DNC. There are some shady things going on over there.

The rnc convention went badly. They took a floor vote on rule changes....passed it with "no decenting votes" and there were a ton of delegates screaming no. They also ignored point of order when delegates were trying to stop the railroading. They allowed no motions to be put forth by the floor. It was one big dog and pony show

And this discussion is about the DNC convention.
Do you really want Obama reelected because of this? THIS can be dealt with at a later date.

It shows BOTH partys are corrupt and railroad their members. The parties are suppost to be run by their members and by laws. But it seems very obvious that is not the case for either party anymore. Hopefully members of both parties take their party leadership to task for what they are doing....or it will get worse.
