State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan said that Indonesia is a rich country. However, because the nation has not been able to develop the potential of its resources, most raw materials are imported.
The increase in imports due to the increase in domestic demand. Oil and gas sector also contributed to the negative because the oil trade deficit is still larger than the trade surplus gas.
That is why Indonesia's balance of payments (BOP) in the second quarter of 2012 recorded a deficit of 2.8 billion U.S. dollars. The deficit was also in line with the global economic slowdown which impacted on the performance of the external side of the Indonesian economy.
"This country needs technical experts even more, especially in the oil sector and agriculture. We are ashamed that our country is rich in agricultural and mineral materials, but still a lot of imports," Dahlan said at a public lecture in front of 2500 students with a theme "Building Entrepreneurship Civitas Academica Soul" at the University of Almuslim Peusangan, Bireun district, Aceh, on Saturday (01/09/2012).
According to Dahlan, to reduce the amount of imported oil and gas, the government must be independent, especially finding more oil refineries themselves. Or increasing the use of electricity. One of them, Dahlan has a project to make the electric car a national car.
Also, it will increase the use of fuel gas, LPG, and energy beyond oil and gas. This was done to reduce the use of oil and gas continue to rise along with the increase in the number of cars or motor fuel. "So that Aceh should have its own power plant to meet the needs of his own people," he said.
Dahlan desire, especially when it became a Director of PT Power Plants (PLN) Persero, Aceh had no power itself, especially in Takengon. Currently, the plant has started road construction. "Back when I was sick was there to start the project," he said.
Previously, PT PLN (Persero) rented power plants owned by PT Paper Kraft Aceh (Limited) to support the electrical system in northern Aceh. With the operation of the steam power plant (CPP) of PT KKA, Aceh certainly get additional power supply of 22 megawatts.
Plant owned by PT KKA operated using steam turbine generators made in General Electric Energy (GEE) with a capacity of 2 x 18 MW. However, since December 2007, the power plant is no longer operated by PT KKA stop producing. At the same time, PLN needs additional power supply in the region of Aceh. Therefore, PLN and PT KKA agreed to work together to harness the power plant within a period of 10 years.
"So here was also brought Managing Director of PLN, Pertamina, and others. They could talk so they can resolve the electricity problem in Aceh," he explained.
In addition, special facilities and refineries owned by PT Arun plant in Blang Lancang, Lhokseumawe, Aceh, according to Dahlan, the future will serve as a terminal for the supply of gas to a number of provinces in Sumatra, especially to the field that is always shortage of gas. "So, will need to be supplied from the gas field in Aceh. Conversely, during the electricity needs of Aceh, right, supplied from Medan. So, going forward, is exchanging between two areas," he said.
Earlier, the government plans to build a gas station or a shelter in Medan. How to buy a boat that floated around permanently Belawan port, Medan. The ship was designed specially to suit the needs of the gas.

No doubt, Indonesia is very rich country and very potential with all the resources it have. the main problem is we don't have good governance that could bring Indonesia one step foot ahead. everyday we only face the fact that we have greed governance that full of corruption and no good achievement. people said that we're maritime country, but the fact we still import salt. we also known as agraric country, but then we also import rice. we also rich in mining sector, but then it managed by foreigner. another fact is what you explain above. how could Indonesia move on by this way?

I'm sure Indonesia will be great country in many sector. is this cruel thought or just show our frustation as civil?

Yes, a good explanation about keaddan bagaimnana our country, as the country has to be addressed. Indonesia needs a strong leader, straightforward and willing to work hard. I think Indonesia is a rich country but the Indonesian government is not able to manage the country well.
