Friends I have read all Harry Potter books from my childhood. Now I'm 19 and feeling weird about it. But when I was reading the last two books I had this problem in mind. The last two books are well directed to an end ( I think) and my curiosity was did Rowling planned it from the beginning - probably not.So when did she started planning the end.Because I think the story had a powerful end concluding everything we got to know from the previous books.
I didn't heard from anyone that Rowling mentioning anything about this. Was there any mention in the interviews?

I think some parts in the ending are already planned form the beginning of writing a book. I started writing a story and is planning to make it as a series and I already know the sequence of the story. So I guess it's already planned and the writer is only adding scenes and forming the rest of the story.

She planned the general outline, but she wrote the books one by one and I`m sure she thought up new details as she saw the her book (s) was a best seller, probably one of the biggest ever. She said so (about the planning) in her interviews.

She did mentioned that she wrote the last chapter of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows way before she even started the series. I guess with that she started to write the series focusing the plot to end to that very last chapter.

I haven't seen any interviews but I would say that she might have had the ending in mind by book five. When the whole concept of horcruxes was introduced and a lot of the dark side came into play. She probably knew where she was going by the end of that book.

She has claimed that the whole series was planned from start to finish before the first book was finished. I think that there were elements which she changed slightly along the way but the main plot, with most of the detail and characters was there since the beginning (and very safely locked away in her bank).
