A heart of Gold

A heart of gold is a short story of an immigrant man in California. He grew up as a poor boy in the village of Mexico. He's a hard working man; he works more than 90 hrs a week at three different jobs including the fast food McDonalds. He saves up to buy a house. One day while he's cleaning the floor at McDonald's he found an envelope he picked it up and it contains $612 in cash! He tried to ask the people there but nobody claim it. He decided to get in touch with the police officer and reported the situation but still nobody claim it. So the police officer give the money back to him. While going to the work he read a newspaper and saw in their that there's a child who is very sick so he decided to give the cash away to help pay the surgery. He's thankful to God for he has a healthy body.
In that story we can really think that the man is having a heart of gold. Not to be prejudice but in today's generation only few people having that kind of heart. Now my question is if you are the man in that story would you do same like what he did? How can you describe the man? I would appreciate to hear from you.

If you want an honest answer...here it is...No I probably would not have given the money away. I probably would have taken it and paid my own bills with it. I feel somewhat ashamed of that, but it is honest. More people should be like the man in your story. He is a hard working man and could probably use the money, but he saw someone who may need it more so he gave it to them. It is a very touching story. It really makes me want to be more like him.

cattibre, I really appreciate for that honest answer. That answer really came from the heart. Spending that money for our bills would probably be the first thing that will come in our mind and it's just normal for us specially if we really need some money to pay for our bills. We might perhaps think that it's given to us so we can pay our bills :). When you said that you wanted to be like him then I believe that, that desire comes from the heart. God will grant that desire of you.

Yes, if I were in his shoes I would do the same. Maybe there's a reason why he found the money and no one claimed it. It's a God-given blessing. He did the right thing in giving that money for the boy's surgery. By doing that, he'll receive more blessings in the future. He's someone to be proud of. I like kind-hearted people. They are so touching. I hope there will be more kind-hearted people in this world. Happy mylotting and thanks for sharing.

Angel, I believe there are more than a hundred kind hearted people in this world. I also appreciate for your thought. Yes, you are right God has a purpose of letting that man found the man for he knew the heart of the man. Happy mylotting too.
