I'm afriad about that.My English is very bad.But I had to go to the U.S intership on Oc 23.I grow up in China. When I was a child,I like English very much. But now.It make me confusion.
I'm going to do the intership in Florida, Actually I'm so disturbed because I never leave my parents. Now I must go to the strange place alone, for the intership about Greenhouse Operations and Management.I learned in college Communication Engineering and I know a little about the Greenhouse Operations. So I'm afriad,I can't integration into the community. It means no friends.I think i need some good opinion to help me have some confidence.
So what can i do?Can help me enhance speaking ability in a short time. What can i do? Can help me have more confidence. What can i do? Can help more independent.
I will stay in U.S for a one year.To do the intership and study.I must make myself more stronger.
When you read the discussion here. You can find my English is really bad.So.What's your opinions?

I suggest you watch tons of English films. Or maybe you could be a member of English Central. Just search it online. It is a good site which will teach you how to read and speak English. They offer audio speeches from famous people and they let you imitate the accent and pronunciation. Tell me if it works. :)
Don't worry to much about the internship. Of course it will be rough at first but I'm sure you can adapt well.

That is a very good attitude. With that you can go really far. Wishing you the best internship experience. :)

Well, your English is already good enough as you managed to get the internship. Once you stay there, your English will improve even more as you are compelled to use English continuously to communicate with others around you. Using the language in daily basis will certainly help you to master English.

Hi, Shonolulu! It is okay if you do not speak English fluently. You just need to practice speaking it and read a lot of books. Also keep an English dictionary handy always.
You should go on with your internship. Your future is important and your internship is one step in achieving your goal. You should not be afraid to be in a new place. You should take it as a challenge. Think of the positive things that this trip/internship can do to you.
Good Luck!

Well i can understand the situation u must be going through but i think you need not to worry that much. i can recommend you to carry a local book such that it would contain information about their local language, places, habits and minute details that would help u a lot. Then u should always have with u a friend who should be speaking good English such that he can make u comfortable and within this period of time, try to make English your strength but u should not panic at all.
What say?

I think, you shouldn't be nervous but excited. Not all people have the chance to go to US for an internship. Consider yourself lucky because you can go there and meet new American friends that could enhance your English. Improve yourself more by reading, listening, speaking and watching some movies on TV. By that, little by little you'll notice that your English is improving. :)

Don't worry Shonolulu, perfect English is not necessary. As long as you know the basic conversation skills, that's way too good. It doesn't have to be perfect in grammar. In fact, a lot of Asian people go to the US and work. So, definitely, you will find your countrymen there and make new set of friends. But if you really want to enhance English, I would suggest, you focus more on speaking the language. Talk and talk and always accept and remember corrections. I know you will be fine! Good luck!
