Nostalgia

When I think of my schooldays, I invariably become nostalgic. Those good old days etched deep in my memory make me feel sad. The streets that my tiny feet trod in seem to be surprisingly narrow. The once gigantic trees look very small. The people I have known from childhood no longer arouse a feeling of awe and wonder in me. How fleeting life is! Growth and realization have not made me happy as those days of ignorance full of fun and frolic did. It has nothing to do with shirking responsibilites of the present. Pining for what is not makes us really feel forlorn. Do you feel nostalgia for those good old schooldays now and then?

It is difficult to wean us off our past because it has such a powerful spell on us.

We feel nostalgic at times and it is the time that we are both happy and sad about the events tbst happened. These memories will always be a part of us today abd would also sonehow help us become a better person in the future.

Past might have been imperfect, present is tense and future uncertain and yet we cling to our past because it gives us an escape route (presumably)

Sweet memories stored in the depth of our heart will stand by us when we are out of sorts.

School, I do so miss those days. Sometimes I regret not becoming a teacher so that I could spend my days in schools. I remember looking forward to the first day back. I loved smell of the new books, the fresh notebooks, and even further back the new box of crayons. I frequent our local library and take in the smell of books. I understand the sense of smell triggers memories best. I've heard songs trigger memories as well and when I hear songs from the time I was in elementary school, I can picture certain streets I walked going back and forth to school. As my parents used to say to me - enjoy it while you can. I find a way to still enjoy it now though. The best time of your life should always be the present.

A true teacher never grows old; he remains childlike in his temperament. The all familiar smell of new books is sure to send us back to our school days.

I miss getting up and going to school to hang out with friends. The smells on the first day of school was something I always looked forward to. I only wish that I had been a little more studious and a little less social lol. School days were so much simpler than life now. Having all the responsibilities that come with growing up really make me miss how easy things were back then.

You are absolutely right. As you grow older, the feeling of loss is likely to be felt intensely.

I live close to my old school and sometimes visit the playgrounds around school with my children. I must say I can help feeling a little nostaligia. I often find my self look in the windows to see if they are treading my old classroom right. I think back of those as some of the best years of my life where I found friends I know I will have the rest of my life. "My school" has been undergoing some major reconstruction the past year and I have many times been thinking what are they doing and why? But it is just a sign of me getting older as there is no dought school needs to be freshent up. Yes I do feel nostalgia :-)

Memories die hard. Renovations and reconstructions are necessary with the changing times but they will remove the signs of your presence in the past.
