Why is helium such a popular site?

I have just discovered helium due to one of the topic discussions in mylot when one member suggested it as a good site for earning additional income online. Then through some research I realized that many people already know of this site and are already members of it. Being a new member of helium, I actually haven't tried doing some work there yet so I want to ask those who have experienced with helium why they joined it and what they love about it? Why do you think helium is getting to be a very popular site on the internet?

I've been a member at Helium for five years now, and I think one of the main reasons it's so popular is because the community is very supportive. Their writing standards are strict, but all the members are willing to help other writers to achieve their full potential, so it's more like a writers' club than anything. There are lots of titles to write to, and you can suggest your own. If you want to progress to being an Editor or Channel Manager, there are plenty of opportunities. Also, Helium pays reasonably well and pays on time. It's a site you can trust, which is very important when you're earning online.

Yes Sandra, I believe in the importance of trusting a site too. Just like mylot which has a lot of followers because it's such a trusted site and they have no problems with getting payments from the site. Concerning payments or earning from helium, how much is the rate of their payments to members? I like to improve more my writing skills so I probably would love to participate here and be with other supportive writers helping each other out.

Sandra is indeed one of the most helpful memebers i know on Helium to date, she has been so kind to read my articles and point out where I can make improvements... At the current moment I have a bit less time to write for Helium because I am busy with my new job, but this doesnt mean I wont continue to write for Helium in my spare time as it is such a great way to earn an extra income.

The page view payment rates vary from channel to channel - the rates are here: : http://www.helium.com/smf/index.php?topic=61431.0 : Basically, that translates to 1 cent for every 5 - 8 page views, which is credited on a rolling basis - you don't have to reach 1000 page views to earn. To earn page view income, you must maintain at least one yellow rating star, and if you can get to 5 rating stars, there's a $3 rating bonus payable on the first day of each month. You can also earn assignment fees - usually $1 or $2 per article, although higher paying titles do come up. You'll need writing stars for those, though.

Helium is a good paying site. I have over hundred of articles there. However I stopped writing fresh articles because it takes a lot of time to proof read the article and checking before submitting them. Helium do not accept the slightest grammatical error. It gets published at first but it will eventually be deleted because it works on a rating system that people will not hesitate to flag your articles. That is simply because they are mostly your competititor for a higher ranking articles. Recently I note that the $3 rating bonus is not credited for this month, September 2012. Anyone shares the same problem?

I don't know about the $3 rating bonus.. because I just maintain one rating star to keep earning from my articles.

It was credited allready on the 30th of August, so if you didnt have 5 rating stars at the time, then no bonus :( Sad for me, because I had 5 stars before the 1st of September, but didnt on the 30th of August...

So it's about submitting articles, right? I thought it was about answer questions from any members or outsiders and being paid per answers you give. And what is this about ratings? How do you get rating bonus in this site and how to you get higher starts like 3 stars or 5 stars?

Hi, Helium is the first writing site that I joined when I tried to find ways to earn money by writing. They do pay. I heard some people earn a lot income from the site. However, I haven't written for them for a long time. I just keep maintain rating star to earn from my article. About Helium going to be popular site on the internet, I don't really know actually.. because there are a lot of pros and cons for this site..

So are you the one to choose what type of article you write and submit to them or do they give you a certain topic? Talking about earnings, how much can a member earn here and if it is not rude to ask if you and others can share how much you personally earn and how much do you think can you earn if you give the site more time or effort?

Is it really popular? Among my friends, Triond and Shvong seems to be more popular. And from what I read in this discussion, I think those two are less strict than Helium..

Speaking about Triond and Shvong, are they open for international members? If yes, I want to check them out as well if they are that popular. How do you work there and how much can one potentially earn in those two sites. I hope you could give us some briefings on these two sites.

I am not active on those two, but I know some friends who earn some good money from them. Yes, they're open for international members. All you need to do is provide dozens of quality articles and then you might get some good money passively for every each month.
