Hi everyone... Most of you are well known that i am associated with wildlife too. I like each and every creations of nature. So, to take care of injured animals or birds is also a part of my life. When i find a bird injured and lying on road or somewhere else, i pick up and try my best to cure him/her. Most often i success but sometimes fail due to severe injuries of him/her or lack of my knowledge. So, i have bought some books on birds so that i can identify them and can know about their habits and instincts. What they eat and drink... i have worked a lot in this field and read as much as i can, even gathered information about all native birds here. Now identifying a bird is something like a challenge to me and i have turned it to my interest/hobby and above all i have created this 'interest' in mylot too. Share your views regarding bird identifying.

Congratulations! That's a really interesting hobby, but I don't see myself doing that. I don't have interests in birds at all. I like appreciating them and nature. I love looking at the mountains, the green fields, going to the beach and enjoying life outdoors. But I don't see myself as a bird woman. I don't think I have the patience like you to take care of birds, least identify them.

Hi toni... Thanks. At least your mind is associated with nature and that is an important thing that one person should carry in him/herself. Have a nice time.

I like birds too. Every Spring we had to the Texas gulf coast to watch the different species migrating north. It is amazing how many different species we see. There is a wonderful program out call bird jam which helps one identify the different birds by the sounds they make. It is so realistic they warn you about using it for unethical purposes. It is also very expensive but avid birders often feel it is well worth it for bird identification purposes.

I do desire to stay there in your place for a while and wish to enjoy all those birds flying around. But it is so hard, i know. Bird jam... i think it is a nice excitement to be involved there. I would join regardless the expenses. Have a nice time.

Birds are fascinating and such a miracle. I love watching the birds around my house and have found out a few of their designations. I recently posted here about a successful baby bird rescue. It feels so good to save a bird and know that they are flying around healthy. One more song for me to hear! I wish everyone would feel as you do and give animals the respect they deserve. I think people who mistreat animals are not even human and should be isolated from normal society.

Hmmm.. i think i have missed your discussion on bird rescue. Will check later on. I have save several birds and i take it as a challenge to cure an injured bird. There are some humans who treat birds as rocks and try to use them according to their wish. Just hate them. Have a nice time.

Congratulation for your this interest. Loving birds and insects is a noble job. Nowadays we are missing many birds from our area due to various reasons. And let me confess that I did nothing for them. I am very much nature concuss but failed to do anything for the beautiful creatures. I am a member of PETA but again my contribution is almost nil. Wish to hear more from you.

good hobby, do you follow any books in identifying the birds , or how do you identify them , whats the process you follow? its quiet difficult one, as there are no proper doctors to treat birds, if any thing happens to them, the veterinary doctors mostly treat only the animals mostly buffaloes and all, so all the best

Yes Prashu... I do follow. Mainly "handbook of birds". And i am a great fan of famous Indian ornithologist Salim Ali and have read almost all his books. Now, it is not so difficult to me to identify our native birds. And about treatment, when you will be able to know all details of a certain bird, then easily can find out the treatment. Have a nice time.
