A Heavy Flood without Rain

My mom just called and told me that there's a heavy flood in our province, and i asked her if there's a rain and she said that there's no rain, the water came from the mountain, because there were no more trees to prevent the flooding. With that event how can we prevent that to happen again, by planting trees again and the other people who has no consideration to the nature will abuse it again and again.

i would suggest to make water bars. they are flat rocks put onto the ground with alot of dirt put behind them to divert the water into other areas for erosion to be minimized. this will slow the speed of water as well. there needs to be many water bars staggered down the mountain. planting trees will work but not at first because the root system is not established. trees do need to be planted however, and be protected. i am not sure if you would be able to see examples of water bars on line or not, but you have an idea of what i am talking about. good luck with this project.

that's a great idea the next problem is that if the local government has enough fund to this kind of project.

While planting trees once more to heavily deforested mountains will be beneficial, the good effects will not be realized until after decades when the trees are already grown and sturdy enough to hold not only rainwater but also eroded soil.
