When my son was young we had gone by to see my grandmother. As we were leaving he said bigmama is getting old, isn't she? I said why do u say that? He said she's got those straits [wrinkles] in her face. I noticed yesterday i was getting straits in my face to. Have y'all noticed any straits in yours?

Yes, sadly. But not my face, in my neck. It's beginning to look kind of wrinkly and a little saggy. My face is okay, so far. :-) But I don't like the neck thing. I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm 64. My elbows got kind of wrinkly a few years ago. I had never noticed until one day I was trying to look at my back in a mirror and I noticed my elbows. Imagine my shock when I realized they were starting to look like my mother's! I guess it happens to the best of us. Sigh.

deazil, seriously, I really thought you were some 20 year old kid running around here on myLot. Never in a million years would I have thought you were our age..never. I don't know if it's the way you talk or joke around or what, but I never thought this. I'm impressed. Yes, Antiquelady, it happens to the best of us, somewhere on our bodies. We've all earned them, just like you said..for sure.

Antiquelady, yeah, I've earned all my future wrinkles that I'm so looking forward to getting. Thanks for the comment! Well, jeez, Kash, I thought some of my responses showed maturity and were somewhat well written. ;-) What, exactly, have you been reading by me? But seriously, you have brightened my day immensely. I think. Actually, I'm impressed that you're impressed. At first I thought maybe you read my post in vandana's discussion ( www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2698597.aspx ) but that was only from last night.I just wish I looked like a 20 year old! It's strange, I still feel like me buut I'm starting to not look like me.

Ok, now I'm really confused. I thought you were talking about regular wrinkles Antiquelady. Katsmeow says she doesn't have any crows feet, laugh lines, or worry lines. What the heck are straits then? I'm lost. I thought you were just talking about wrinkles. Boy, am I dumb.

I never heard them called that. I don't have any straits anywhere on my body....yeh right. Can't we find a fun word to call them, like smiley noodles, or pretty little river beds?

deazil.... you so caught on to that. Yes, I'm laughing my head off because I was only joking around! I love laugh lines, and you just gave me another one! or river bed, or smiley noodle! AntiqueLady...You do know I'm only messing around with you right? I like straits better than wrinkles too, just never heard of them called that.

hi AntiqueLady saw the words straits on my face and lo I ha d to read this. oddly for an 85 year old woman I just have two fro wn lines in my forehead which irk me as even when I am smiling people will say" are you alright?" but i have fine wrinkles on the inner parts of my arms. sob sob.I lavish body lotion on them at night but fear its a lost cause bu t my skin is very dry and the lotion smells so good. lol but like one woman said in my writing class "sure I have wrinkles and I earned them so what?" I think the main reasons I do not have any straits i mean wrinkles in my face is its still pretty plump but congratulate me I was called down to weigh and I have lost ten pounds,.I weighed 210and now am 195 oh my I actually lost fifteen pounds. so glad I plan on getting to 150 in time. The more I can lose the better I can control my blood sugar too. happy my lotting.

Hatley! Congratulations on the weight loss!!!!! That's fantastic! You must feel really good about that. And I have frown lines on my forehead, too. They've been there for years. When I wasn't wearing my hair in bangs covering them, people at work would always say "What are you so mad about"? It just looked like I was mad all the time.

Whether we like it or not if God allows us to live longer we come to that situation when we have also some straits in our face. Right now I feel I have it already and I'm thanking God of the gift of my life and all the graces and blessings I am enjoying right now. Not all would come to an age, so i must take care of it and be ready when time comes when I''l be home to Him.

That is funny. No, I do not seem to have wrinkles, I wish I had some laugh lines as those are pleasant to me. I do have lots of gray hair, hidden of course by henna at this time.

Awwww your young son was a good observer. Not many kids are. Most don't care about the elderly or older folks and just rather play with their toys. As you asked, yes I do see a few lines forming on my face but as others say, they're laughing lines so in saying that, I don't mind having them so much. The part I don't like is the aches and pains that goes along with age. (lol)

Thanks for responding, cats.My children knew how much i loved my Bigmama so they saw her quite often. The last year she lived i went by there every day & he was usually w/me. I wouldn't care if i looked like an old prune if the aches & painns would go away, lol.

Nope no wrinkles in my face yet i am only in my 20's but i'm sure in 5 or 10 years i'll start seeing some. Atleast he didn't say anything to bad about why he thinks she is old, everyone gets wrinkles at some point in their life old or young it's just a habit of nature.

Thankfully , no not yet. Then again I'm only 55 years old so I hope I have at least another 20 years before I see that happening. I remember a co-worker/friend years ago would come in with a one wrinkle on one side of her face. She said it was from sleeping on the sheets. Now this was back when I was in my twentys. From that day forward I always sleep with my hand under the side of my face. All to prevent a wrinkle happening. It seems to have worked because I don't even have crows feet by my eyes.

Well this thing of wrinkles and weak skin is quite an obvious case as the age grows. It is only through others that we start realizing that we are actually growing older with age. What say?

Straits in my face; bags under my eyes;sagging jowls, veins that stand out on my arms and hands. We won't talk about that little pot belly that I can't get rid of, even though my weight is down to what I weighed in high school. When my brothers were small, they were convinced that our grandmother had worms. They were sure because "you can see them through the skin on the backs of her hands".

Dearest Jo, I always say that God, in His infinite wisdom, gives us wrinkles when our eyes canĀ“t see much. This bigmama has been getting old for a long time now. I hope I can achive some wisdom besides the wrinkles and the white hair.

One way to prevent straits in a face is to sleep at your back flat against the bed. Since your face is not pressed to the pillow, lines do not form.

No wrinkles yet, I have not even turned 20 so you can actually call me a little kid comparing me to the more older and wiser members :) Getting wrinkles is natural, and all get them some time in their life. In my opinion they are not that bad, and they shouldn't be covered up, becouse they are natural, and nature should stay as our motherearth created it.
