God has determined the destiny of everyone. But sometimes people do not realize that what he/she is experiencing at this time is only part of the journey toward his/her destiny. An example: God has set destiny as an entrepreneur, do you think you can be an entrepreneur if you just sitting at home without doing anything else?
Whatever set by God is the secret of the Lord himself, to know what God wants for us, we must try to do / work / do everything we want to do as best as we can until the time we know that what we achieve in the end is our luck, our destiny given by God for us. Do you think you could write this discussion if you just stare at your keyboard without trying to turn on the computer and typing?

Well it is not written anywhere in book. It is you who decided your own destiny. It is only an illusion when things don't turned out the way it was expected and we blame luck and say it was all written we give to ourselves.

Thought I do believe that there are certain things about our life that have been determined from the time of our conception, I don't believe that everything about our lives has been predetermined.
If a person makes the decision to not work, then they are not going to have money to meet the basic needs in their lives. It is only through hard work and a desire to succeed that people are really able to make something of themselves. This is the reason that people should work and not just expect to have everything handed to them.

hey tushavi,
i agree with you that god has written our luck/fate/destiny already but we have to work to reach that. you know,we cant escape from the basic needs to survive (food ,clothing and shelter ) .we will need it whole life until we die. now just think if we do not work then somebody else will provide us these ,may be our relative, friend. if we need all this then why should we depend on others ? work hard and earn your living yourself.
your are from Pakistan and luckily it has been gifted by god with saints, gurus from time to time. just read their writings , i am sure you will definitely get something, and will get enlightened .
all the best , hav a great day.

I believe in fate and destiny. What we're being born with or into a situation, and what we can do with the life we're being given. God has everything laid out for each of us, and I believe if you have the thought of "why should we work" then it means He must have wanted you to do nothing, because that's how you see things. :)

I think we need to work and try for the things that we want or the things that we feel should be done. We may be given opportunities but it is up to us to take the opportunity and do the work.

God said we must work for a living, even Jesus was a carpenter. Hard work is what blesses us.

Those who follow God's teachings are blessed by God, an as God said through the Apostle Paul, "If a man doesn't work, nor should he eat."

Hi Tushavi, I don't think God has hath given us our luck. God given us ability to work, to think, overall He given humans brain. God does not help idle person. We create our own fate by our work. There is a saying : God helps those who help themselves. God does not love a lazy person.

Because HE hasn't 'written our luck'. HE does know what we will choose, but it is and always has been, our choice.

I agree with you to a great extent.Of course, our destiny is already determined and fixed.Being human beings bound by our limitations we can't go beyond what the destiny has in store for us.But we will certainly get what we are destined to get provided we try to get it.Our destiny can't be realized if we work to realize it.A cd or a dvd can have one or more movies in it,but we can't watch them unless we don't run them in a dvd player.Destiny and work are two wings of a bird.If any of the two is cut,the bird can't fly.I had once heard a famous industrialist saying,'The one thing that I have learned is that behind all our achievements there is 99% of our effort and only 1% of our luck. But if that 1% of luck is not in your favor, then all the 99% of your efforts would go futile.'I am sure he was right.

Well I believe God will provide for us no matter where we are if we are His children. What I get confused in is the same as you're asking here though. Some things will happen no matter what, I think. But others won't happen unless you're on the right path....
It sounds confusing doesn't it! Good thing God knows exactly what He is doing.

even if our destiny is written we need to do things still. we dont know what is written thats why we work, thats why we fall in love.. we dont want a life of staying still not doing anything. to live we need to work, we need friends, we need love, we need money. we need all this. it doesnt fall from the sky unless you do something about it. thats what life is. so even if things are written we need to do it anyway^^

You have asked a very interesting question. Well, i tried to form a hypotheses about luck and it seems i have observed it will be true and it may be false.
I tried to just play computer for a whole day and i observed that nothing happened that day that would lead to a lucky day. And then, i started making my days full of fun and learn new things, and it eventually led me to a lucky day.
So my conclusion is that, luck is there, made by God, but it is up to us to reach it. It will not come to us consciously but when we eventually reach it subconsciously, well, it would be a very lucky day indeed that we tell ourselves.

I thik there is a little room in this. We create problems and situations for ourselve that i believe Good Allows to happen, i think we do follow a certain line in life and have the free will to veer from that line.
