i wonder how will the 9th season run without head of platics (dr. sloan) and cardio (dr. altman).. i hope the whole crew will come up with a very exciting season. i'll miss dr. altman, she has a good sense of humor though it only comes out very late last season. Oh and for Lexie, i feel sad that her character has to end that way.

Has Dr. Arizona's character been confirmed yet on whether she will survive the crash or whether she is leaving too? I just can't wait to watch S9, especially to see what will happen with McDreamy's 'million-dollar' hands! And yes, such a sad ending for Lexie.. I wanted her to end up with McSteamy :(

i don't know yet about Arizona, feel sorry she has to suffer such major injury like that. i was wondering if sloan's exit to grey's anatomy is beacuse of the internal bleeding in his heart.

I'm thinking that Avery will take over plastics and I read that Cristina eventually comes back to Seattle Grace, so I'm sure she will take over Cardio at some point. Lexie and Mark were two of my favorites, it's going to take awhile to get used to the show without the two of them on it. Same as with George and Izzy, it still doesn't seem the same sometimes without O'Malley. I read somewhere else too though that T.R. Knight (George) might be making a guest appearance this season in someone's dream. That would be nice! I miss his face!! =)

The actor that plays Dr Sloan wanted to leave the show. Its never easy to leave a show when you know your going to earn money; however, we see it happen often. If it was me, then I would not leave, as people want to see you in the role.

Every now and again characters leave, either because the actors want to go and try new things or the writer/producers want to create drama or emotion in a show. The amount of doctors leaving seems to be more to do with the second option, though the fact that Eric Dane (dr sloan) wanted to leave probably made them choose him as one of the fatal victims of the accident. It would be interesting if he survived but decides to leave because of some other reason. The fact that Altman did not seem to have a romantic paring on the show limited her exposure and since it probably became more difficult to find reasons to include her they probably wanted a dramatic way for her to leave. Like after the shooting in which the lives of many of the characters were dramatically changed, I wonder if the choices they were making about where they would go will be changed due to the event? since so many characters are in the balance will they be able to dramatically reform the show, will they have the characters in different hospitals interact in some way? It should be interesting to see how they get it right on the 27th.
