Blockbuster Trial

So, I have recently signed up for a free trial for the Blockbuster program, and so far I am not that impressed. It took them days to "process" my first dvd after I signed up, and then it took another couple days after they mailed the dvd.
I returned my first dvd on Monday, and it is now Sunday night and they are still "processing" my next dvd, they haven't even mailed it out yet! When I was a member of Netflix they always sent me another dvd the day after I sent mine back.
At first I thought maybe they were treating me poorly because I am doing a free trial, but then I reasoned wouldn't it be better if they treated trial subscribers better so they would want to sign up once the trial ended??
Has anyone else tried Blockbuster? What has your experience been like?

if u watch a lot of dvds..this is a good deal..does it include Blurays too??or just dvds..

I believe it includes DVDs, Blurays and games. I don't really play games and the only bluray player is in my parents room, so that's why I only get dvd's.
Can you play bluray's on your laptop like you can dvds?

Well I just got a new computer, but I don't know what kind of disc drive it has. But I'm not really too worried about it. We have a lot more dvds then blurays. Thanks for answering my question!

NO..unless ur disc drive is a bluray disc drive..if its just a dvd rom drive it will not recognise the tiny details on a bluray disc.. so u need to get a bluray disc for your laptop..its cheaper nowadays.

I had Blockbuster before I got Netflix, back when they still had stores to rent from. They had free rentals at the store included with the monthly fee but then they started taking things away and making it so it wasn't such a good deal. Also, a large number of new release movies in my queue would say "long wait" for weeks before I could get them. I dropped Blockbuster and went with Netflix and have been with them ever since. While Netflix isn't as good as it used to be either, it's still better than Blockbuster.

Yeah I prefer Netflix too, even though Blockbuster does have a better selection. But like you said, if you never can get the "better" selection of dvds, whats the point??
There are still Blockbuster stores around me (theres one that's about 5-10 minute drive from me). And in store rentals are included in the trial, but I've never actually gone to the store. So I wouldn't know how much of a pain it is, but I'll def. take your word for it! Based on my experience, that's very believable!
I just wish Netflix hadn't raised their prices (twice!), and the second time being by 60%! I think that was a HORRIBLE business decision on their part.

Yeah! That's what I always say! With their most recent price increase they lost a LARGE chunk of their customers, and those they didn't lose completely did move to a cheaper plan. So I would LOVE for them to tell me, exactly what was the strategy play in decision? Haha
And when they started saying they were going to start splitting up their DVD program and instand program (even giving the DVD part of it a different name??) they decided not to do it because of the annoyance the idea was causing customers. But when asked about the price increase they said they wouldn't change that because they still thought it was the right thing to do!? Idiots!

I agree. Netflix has to be run by a band of idiots. They thought they could do anything they wanted, like split the DVD and streaming services into two different websites and raise their prices twice. I dropped the streaming service and I'm now paying less than I used to and I'm getting more DVD's mailed because they caused me to drop the streaming with their price increases. Now, in my case, they have increased mailing costs and I'm paying less, so their making less on me. If they had left well enough alone, I would still be giving them more money every month. Their price increase resulted in a net loss of revenue.
They found out that their customers wouldn't put up with everything they were trying to do either. A lot of people either dropped them altogether or dropped one of the services. That resulted in them taking a HUGE hit in their stock price because of their mismanagement. It was over $300 per share at it's high and after their shenanigans, it pretty much fell off a cliff. It's around $55 and change today. That's what happens when corporate morons decide to start jacking around their customers. It's a classic example of gross mismanagement. I chuckle about it every time I get a DVD in the mail.

I just joined block buster recently too and I haven't had that issue. I usually get my dvd 3 days after mine was recieved on their end. It takes a lot longer to process them especially depends on where the shipment is coming from. Just give it time it will work out. Some dvds you may have to wait to get if they don't have it in stock as well, ive had that issue before. But I prefer blockbuster over netflix idk why I just do though.

Well the dvds I'm talking about are all "available." There are some dvds that say short wait and long wait...but that isn't the case with the ones that have taken me so long to get. So I don't think there is any excuse for it.
I don't think getting 1 dvd a week is really worth the monthly price. So I can't imagine that's how long it takes them to send dvds to subscribers.

I'd prefer to use Netflix which I stream from the Internet for $8 using a Roku ($50 to $70 depending on the model.) I can watch what I want, whenever I want, and not have to bother with shipping DVDs back and forth. Blockbuster is also doomed to fail since they haven't gotten into Internet streaming and their main competition, RedBox, is easier and more convenient to use.

Yeah I definitely think Blockbuster should get online streaming (especially considering it takes them forever to send their dvds haha).
I like Netflix better too, but I wish they would have more available for online streaming (so many movies are dvd only). And since they recently raised their prices A LOT, I had to cut back. At first I had dvds + unlimited online streaming, then I had to change it to just online streaming, now I can't afford anything so my account is on hold.

OH I agree! I would be miserable if actual books disappeared! I don't like Ebooks! I prefer to hold a book when I read it. But thanks to Ebay and Amazon and sites like that, I think actual books will always be in circutlation. Plus, I think there are TOO many people that prefer books, so I don't think they would stop printing them all together (maybe they'd just print less).
I didn't know that about Amazon! I knew you could buy a movie for instant streaming for a few books, but that yearly thing would be nice. I couldn't even afford to that right at this moment, but in the future that could be nice (especially if they have a big selection). I'll have to look into that! Thanks!

I have not tried the Blockbuster program, but I might be interested. Ever since the big rental chains near here closed, I've realized that the collection our on-demand-service offers isn't really that impressive.
But if you're saying that the service isn't that great too, then I'd think twice about it too.
They should be aggressive in pursuing new customers, as the cable services are already hogging out the market!

I guess if it's free for 6 months (or even if you signed up for the month long trial) it doesn't really matter if they send them slow because you aren't paying. It's just a very big annoyance.
You're right! They need to treat all their "customers" happy - whether they are paying AT THAT moment or not.
