Yes you can install a game in a portable external hard disk, you can paste the shortcut on desktop as well, but u can't play the game you install in external hard disk if you remove the external hard disk.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. If we install it in an external hard disk and plug it in each time we want to play the game, it should work, isn't it? Good day!

I'm not really sure if this could be done although it sounds logical. If this works it would definitely free up space on your computer if you only relied on the external hard drive to play the game. As far as I know though you always install programs on your computer, I'm ready to be told otherwise though, if it works let me know as I would be interested to know about this. Andrew

YOu can play a game if the game is portable. Also when you place shortcut to your desktop its still a link to a location in your drive and it changes if the number of drive changes. Suppose you have two usb port usb1 and usb2 and you are running a copy paste like games that can be ported without install. Now suppose you paste the link of its application run file to your desktop from your portable hdd, at this moment suppose your device drive is letter D. Now you remove that hdd from usb1 and you insert some another device to any of your usb1 or 2. Now this device will have drive name D. and if you place your hdd in another free usb port then that will have drive letter E, just suppose. So when you now try to run the game from the link that you placed on the desktop you won't be able to run the game as it is unaware of its file location as it is not available in drive D, but that shortcut link is linked to drive D, for what the original location of file is in E.
Also if you are thinking of using a install type game, that must be portable too, since some important files are placed inside your system folder in drive C: even in you are installing your game in external drive. However if you can find those files or copy those files to the system folder to which ever system you want to run and play the game you want to play.

Yes, it is possible. But, some games should be placed on the internal hard drive of the PC. for example, Sims 3 without expansions, can be played if it is in an external hard drive, but if you will buy some expansion pack for Sims 3. they require you to install it in the internal drive. :(
