I do use my laptop 15 hours a day and in my experience in my previous laptop my battery life goes from 100% to 5% in just a matter of one year. Now after I bought now laptop I decided that I will going to remove the batter and directly plug my laptop. But after three months of using my laptop without battery. I notice that its seems my laptop screen is shady. Usually this is what happen in my old laptop if I'm not charging my battery. But right now I don't have a battery. I'm thing that after three more months my laptop screen going to die out. If that going to happen then my laptop only last six months.

Yes it is advisable to use your laptop without battery on ac mode if and only if in your home power should not going often. Becaz I think battery is for when we are at picnic or something else place where we haven't plug to charge battery at that time we can run our laptop.Battery life is much batter if you are using this way.

I only plug my battery twice a month. I go online almost 15 hours a day all day and that's why if I use my laptop with battery it can end up damage in five months. My old laptop give way that's way. its really good and running for 5 years and now I bought a new one and I'm hoping that its can last that long also.

I don't know either the right usage of laptop batteries. My very first laptop, was from Toshiba and every time the battery becomes slow, or say, 10% remaining, I will plug it already until it becomes fully charged. Sometimes, after it has been fully charged, I remove the socket and sometimes, I don't until I turn it off. I don't know if it was bad but my laptop got damaged, the screen just went off. You can use it with the battery alone and when you will start to plug it, the screen will turn off. I don't know the problem.
Now, I have my second laptop from Acer. I decided not to use the battery like what you are doing and just use it twice a week. I think it wasn't a better idea but way better than the first one. My battery was damaged earlier than expected and it is asking me to replace it with new one. So now, my battery is gone and I am now using my laptop plugged in.
I think the good way is to use your battery, wait for the battery to get drained, don't use it while charging it and use the laptop when the battery is full but unplug the power supply. That thing is difficult to follow especially when you are watching a movie or trying to finish something important. For right ways, ask the experts.

But I'm online 15 hours more or less a day so I really need to do plug in. I can't wait for my laptop to get drain then charge and wait and when its full that's the time I'm going to use it. I can't do that way.
But I guess base on other comments in this thread is that I need to buy power regulator. In this way if theirs a power surge its can protect my laptop.

I am using my Lenovo Y500 for the last 5 years and 7-8 hrs. daily and it is till working just like a new laptop and have no issues. Few things I noted that now it will not last for 1 hrs. more more as battery life. However, I always connected to the mains and never take around the laptop. But still wroking good in my observation. It is also become hot when it uses continuously. As I got a colling fan underneath the laptop, it helps to keep cool for the processor and other components which helps to increase the life. Anyway, I am sure that as it is not yet serviced the fan and other ventiatlion might be blocked half the way as dust and other particles may be filled in.
Now what I suggest you is that you can use the colling fan (if not using and if the room is not an A/C room. Also, if you can manage an LCD stand along monitor, just connect it to your laptop, which will safeguard your laptop monitor. I got a AOC 21" LED monitor as a gift and it was lying idle, I thought I will connect it to the laptop. Anyway, my idea got worked and since 8-10 months, I am using it and my laptop monitor is anymore in use and it will help the life of the laptop monitor. Only probleme, if a camera is to be attached, we need a separate one as the laoptop camera won't work when using the LED monitor.
I am using the laptop below (under the table) and on the table only the mitor, separate keyboard and seprate mouse. So, I am not using the laptop physically and only accessing with separte attachments. So, initially we need to pay for the mouse, keyboard and that is all. The laptop will remain look like new for ever. If convenient, just try it and I think you will find moe comfortable and easy to use also.

That's good if you are using your laptop for 5 years. My laptop is lenovo also so I'm hoping that mine will going to last another five years. I don't know why my screen is dim but I will try to figure out if its some bug problem. Because I already put the full light and still its dim.
I'm using electric and some cheap laptop ventilator. But I don't know if its really help or not.

Hi
I don't think that is the problem.. I mean I have recently purchased new laptop and I did the same as you. I am using my new laptop on direct plug and so far never faced any problem like that.. I am only using battery during emergency time and during traveling time... The problem you have mentioned , can happened if the direct power source which you are applying having some problem like fluctuating in power supply.. Make sure that's not the case. As we are using desktop computer with direct power just like that we can use laptop too. I don't think it can create any problem.

That's what I feared. Theirs like five to 10 times that theirs a power surge each month an I guess I really need to buy regulator so that the electricity will be regulated. But my concern is that its cost too much to buy one. But I guess if I want my laptop to last long I need to protect it against power surge.

Hi, from what I know, it is just right to just remove the battery if you are going to plug your laptop. This is actually my mistake when I bought my laptop few years ago. I always plug it without removing its battery to avoid power interruption especially if I am downloading something. Months later, I noticed that my battery no longer works. I've been using my laptop for more than 3 years now without battery and I haven't encountered any problem about it. So far, I haven't noticed any changes or problems with my screen. I've been using surge protector since day one.

I guess that's what I need. I just going to buy one to protect my laptop. Right now I'm using my new laptop. My old laptop even if I put the powercord directly its won't start anymore. I guess theirs its already consider a junk if you ask me. But I'm hoping that my new laptop can last 5 more years.
