So, another story about my crazy cat, Oliver. You guys know that Oliver was our bottle baby and the kitten in my avatar, and he's one crazy cat. The other day I was taking care of business in the bathroom and Oliver came in. He jumped in the tub and saw this bar of soap kind of stuck to the wall just at the top of the tub. He sniffed it and rubbed it. **Strange** I thought. Then he reached up with a paw and pulled it down. **Really strange** I thought. So he sniffs it some more and starts rubbing it with his chin. **Weird** I thought. And then the IDIOT licks it! He stood there for a few moments, kind of licking the air, then jumped out of the tub. **IDIOT!** I thought. Well, after I got done, I picked up the bar, since neither of the roommates could've seen it and put it back on the edge of the tub. Then I went and lay down for a nap. Of course, I'm there, it must be time to mob the meommy! There's Sparky, and Pong and Ping and then Oliver jumps on top of me. He gets his face right up next to mine and, guess what he smells like? Yep, SOAP! Isn't he a lunatic? You ever had a cat do anything that crazy?

LOL It sounds like there's never a dull moment at your place. Nenya's gotten very interested in the soap before, and has sniffed it and maybe batted at it a few times but I've never seen her try to eat any of it. I think I caught her getting really interested in my oatmeal before, and I thought to myself, I'll let her try a little bit so she can realize she doesn't like it, but no. Once she started, she wanted more and I just had to keep her out of my lap.

Timus likes the roomie's salsa (mild) but I'd bet he'd eat almost anything with tomatoes in it if we let him!

ive had them do some pretty crazy things back when i had them. and often not good things for them. i used to have one that chewed on nearly everything. one day he was laying around digging at his mouth and when i looked he had a peice of wood stuck up in the roof between both rows of teeth dont know where it came from. my 3rd hubby once brought me a stray that he had found wondering around with a can stuck on its head i used to worry about the kids leaving plastic bags on something the cats could get into. they are like babies our pets. have to watch them all the time. lol

We have to watch paper bags with handles, we've had more than one get their heads caught and 'Nado (RIP) actually bruised his larynx doing that.

I wonder what he smells in it that is so tempting to him. It was not fragranced was it? I know cats like or love certain plastics, but soap?

I don't know, he's such a crazy cat. Maybe its because its the roomie's soap and she's not out where they can get to her anymore. She got tired of them messing up her bed and has closed them out of her room.

I've never had a cat that would do anything like that, but I did have my cat bite some butter off of a piece of toast and cheese that I was eating, the other day. I sure hope your little Meow-kid didn't barf up the soap he licked. LOL LOL LOL Great story, and the way you told it, I could almost picture it!

Well, he only barely touched it with his tongue tip, so I think we were safe... I had a cat steal the former roommate's fish stick when she "checked out" while eating. I figured if she couldn't stay awake to guard her food, she needed to eat where the cat couldn't get it.

Soap is one thing that none of my crew has shown any interest in. If there is any interest in the soap it's because there is a spider on it! Oliver reminded me of that commercial from many many years ago...there was some man in the background announcing "BAD BREATH IN DOGS!" It was for some dog biscuit that was supposed to clean their teeth. Oliver may have been worried about mouth odor and maybe he dribbled something on his chin. At least he didn't sit on your chest and blow bubbles! The closest to Oliver was Charlie when he would sit in my bubble baths. He was always so pleased with himself when I had the bath water waiting for me to crawl in and he was able to beat me to it. Nothing like a bubble bath that someone has done for you that is the purrrfect temperature and has just the right amount of bubbles! Right now Murphy is in the dog house because she peed on the bag that contained a skirt that I am altering for a customer. Fortunately "Nature's Miracle" is great for taking care of urine odors. I was ready to throttle her when I found the garment. I am going to hand wash it tomorrow and hang it out to dry. Hopefully the smell is gone. I have a great picture to post Tuesday (I am about to go to bed...we went to town today and I had an episode that left me really really tired). I got up this morning and had the living daylights spooked out of me by one of my cats!

No, hahaha, not that crazy! I bet he'll remember not to do that again..or will he? I'm surprised he isn't running around blowing bubbles, lol! Cats really do some crazy things.

He didn't do much more than touch the tip of his tongue to the soap, but not after he had rubbed his chin on it a few times.

I don't think he liked the taste, not at all sure what he liked about the smell, except it might've smelled like the roomie...

Wow! I thought my cat was weird because she jumps in the shower and doesn't mind the water at all but she's certainly never showed any interest in the soap much less licking it! I wonder if your cat actually enjoyed it and will try it again or if it was more of a random curiosity thing. That's actually more of the sort of behavior I'd expect out of a dog (sorry dog lovers but dogs do eat some pretty gross things.)

I don't think he'll lick it again, he didn't like it the first time. I do know about dogs, Cujo likes cat barf and Zoe eats some of the other stuff.

Oh my gosh lol soap tastes so very bad no wonder he ran off after tasting it. My dad put soap in my mouth onw time thats how I know how bad it tastes. Im guessing your soap has a very nice scent to it which enticed the cat enough to try it. Boy what a mistake that was. I'm guessing the cat wont make that mistake again.

I doubt it too. I think he liked the scent because it smelled like the roomie, it is her soap, so I think that's what attracted him to it. Don't think he'll be doing that again!

Yes. I'm sure you have the same goofy memory of a certain crazy orange female who kidnapped my undies from the bathroom sink where they'd been soaking. I still wonder where she wanted to take them, & WHY.... So funny seeing her walking bowlegged, straddling the soapy, soggy thing, leaving the trail of water from the bathroom to the living room...did you ever figure out what was going on between her ears? Hey, maybe some cats really love the taste of soap?? Maggiepie

I didn't actually see it since you rescued your undies before I got home... but when it came to Leontyne, there's not telling what she might've been thinking!

I don't even go into the ongoing cat fights! Or squirting Gabby when she wants to go outside after dark... we don't want her out with the stray cats and the 'possums!

Your Oliver is very funny. I think he was intrigued by the aroma of the soap, maybe he thinks the soap kind of food he could eat because it has a fragrant aroma. At least now he has that fragrant aroma all over him.

well, it was only on his chin and not even there anymore... Oliver is a strange enough cat without the soap thing... this cat likes OLIVE brine!
