I want to switch to custom domain. First I thought it was supposed to be $10. It is mentioned on Blogger's page. But when I picked a name for my blog and hit "availability" I was taken to a page where blogger said that it does not host blogs, but has partnership with GoDaddy and some other hosting companies. When I looked into custom domain price at Godaddy, I found out that they charged $12 or something per year. From researching online, I came to know that one man is paying $45 for a blog at blogspot. How is that possible? Do we get billed extra for any reason or is it like we are charged only $10 for the sake of blogger?

You need a domain blog name first. O.k you need to pay up for that. the cost per domain name typically varies from dealer to dealer. If it $12 with Go daddy then it must be $ 20 to some other dealer (just assuming as Go Daddy is world's biggest domain seller and the next by or the world second biggest domain seller does not sell half of Godday's selling volume) but you need to research it first and find out a cheaper domain seller. The real domain name cost that ICANN (The organization that actually sell names to these dealers, the domain registrar) actually charges $0.11 per domain name per year (shocking naa....). Then you need a domain hosting (as I am assuming that you must not have a static IP with dedicated server(s)) this will add $7-$10 your bills per month.

its actually depends on the domain name you want to buy.. like .com .co .in .biz .asia .co.in .tv etc etc.. and the first yr registration price is less but from the next year price will increase...
