A concern for you and me, brother.

One gets used to the strange news reported on television, the floods, the quakes, the wars, because somewhere, somehow, we had also been affected by the same experiences. Yet, the next day, we go about our usual lives again, me, back to facebook, or to mylot, and the domestic life I had been leading for a number of years now.
There are news though that grips the senses, like the 240 thousand displaced Syrians, or more appropriately, men, women and children driven away from their homes, in exodus to a place that is never there, meaning, hoping that there is a tent that could be a temporary shelter, or a makeshift home for a few hours, it doesn't matter what it is made of, so long as the family, if it is still complete, could have a respite from the gunfire, and the senselessness that is Syria today.
Keep a prayer for that eleven year old boy who missed school so much, because he learned many things there, and now had to step over dead bodies in haste to save his young self from the lethal bullets. He dreams of becoming a doctor, to save those who were wounded.
As we go through the day, let's ask for peace, so that those who need it might see it through another day.

It's a double-edge sword so to speak.
Always negative news, we do two things that are really contrary to one another. We become desensitized and carry underlying stress because of all the bad news.
I use to think the world wasn't as complicated as it is now, but I wonder. I think way back in the day technology wasn't able to feed it into our living-rooms and radios as it was happening.
Now when something horrific happens we stayed glued to our TVs and just feed on the negativity.
CNN is one of the most depressing channels there is. I know a wonderful Christian lady and that's all she does all day is listen to CNN, and she has a problem with depression. I wonder why?

Hello Eileen, Never a day goes by where I am grateful to live in a free country such as here in the Philippines. we have experience dictatorship, but we have over come them less violent manner compare to the struggle for freedom in the middle east. violence after violence happens every decade or so because of religion or principle.

You are right, sometimes we go through life and battling our own troubles..our own problems thinking it is that bad..yet somehow someone out there is having bigger problems. I also read about Syria today and it is sad as they are going through that and yes i am praying for them right now. That somehow they will find peace that they need.

Hello my friend eileenleyva Ji,
Well, I think any inhuman act requires to be condemened in its fullest form. It has too bad life long effect on human body. During India-pakistan partition, it haunts many. It is very difficult to part away with those horrors.
May God bless You and have a great time

This is a well written insight. But despite every challenges we face, we still see the goodness of man - we do see the light side and the dark side. I do pray daily that He takes care of the young, the old ones and those who wishes good for their life. I always keep in mind that all things happen for a reason.
It is such a good feeling to see people like you who works on whatever way they can to share humankind.
Keep it up!

It is a reality. Sad, but true. Misfortune comes even to those who don't deserve it. Negative news of calamities, gunfire, and collateral damages are always everywhere and despite all these, we still learn to live and move on with our lives. Some may have even experienced trauma yet had moved on to a place in their lives that they are proud of. Some people may not believe in prayers, but for me, at times like these, all we can do is say a silent prayer that all things are going to be okay, and that a brand new day awaits all of us with more hope and more courage to pass through any storm that may come our way.
