As we all know,we would feel very thirsty when we were doing sports, and want to drink.Today is my badminton day,i played it over 2 hours as usual, but half the play my partner gave me a bottle of ice water, and i drank a sip.About a few minutes latter i felt a stomachache, and it became worse and worse. As usual,i would not to drank anything during doing sports, and after the game i would go home for some rest firstly, and then drink some water. So i'm sure my stomachache was becasue of the drink. If you do some sports you'd better not to have a drink in a hurry.

For me I never drink cold water when I am doing sport. Even when I feel thirsty, I prefer to have a rest first and then drink some water slowly.
Cold water can cause me strong stomachache.
What's more, for girls it's better not to drink cold water in daily life, especially in menstrual period.

Drinking cold water when you're either exercising or doing sports is not bad at all, in fact, it is best to do so, since cold water has been medically proven to be absorbed by the body quicker than warm water. Also, you were right, bloating yourself up with water in between games is not a really good idea.

Maybe it was just a coincidence. I often drink cool to tepid water while I'm exercising and my sister drinks cold water. The only time my stomach hurts is if I drink too much water, then exercise soon afterwards. If it was only a sip, then that shouldn't be enough to cause a stomachache.
I think it was either a coincidence that your stomach just happened to hurt after drinking the water, or you are sensitive to it.
