Scammer over skype?

Philippines

A stranger contacted me over Skype. Telling that a man who happened to have the last name same as mine died years ago still having a huge fund on his bank. Since we both have the same last name I can be a beneficiary of this fund on the bank and telling me to cooperate so the money will be sent to me. Silly isn't it? What can he get from me out of this? My bank identity? well he got the wrong person, I have nothing. This might happen to you too. What is your insight about this?

Interesting. How did the person get you skype id to find you in the first place? Don't ever give anyone your personal data.

I guess we just need to be always wary and alert. Too many scams around, there is no way to escape so precaution is the best.

I don't know how he get my skype ID. But as I was expecting a skype invitation from the job online I was applying to I added him thinking that hes was the client I was waiting for. Sometimes I gave my email address online for some important reasons like employers need it for further instructions of the job I am applying or I was being hired of. Since I am working online I used to do that

Scammers are everywhere....better you should not take a look from any msg or emails from people who you don't know.. In a long time i never take a look with crazy msg/emails like that, i just decline that id or put it into spam.

indeed ryanong, Scammers are everywhere. It's just because I was expecting a Skype invitation from an online job client that's I added him. Having in mind that he was the client I was waiting for. Because most employers online require a Skype interview to their contractors.

I surely will. besides I don't entertain those scam emails but in a Skype is something new. I didn't expect they get us through Skype also.

Oh wow I never knew that phishers are also lurking over skype already. I think we should be careful about these schemes since most likely you will just be scammed if you entertain such contacts. So far my used of skype has been limited to only my personal family, friends and everything. No other person knows my account so I guess there is no bneed for me to worry.

Hi rsa its my first time to experience this scam message on Skype but now that I already knew this it taught me a lesson. since I was working online I extended my contacts to my job clients for further instructions, development of the job purposes. But even jobs posted at Odesk plenty of them were scam also. We can't deny the fact that it is everywhere.

I only know this scheme happening on email and I received a lot of this on my email but not on skype. I know there are really many scams going around somewhere so we should always be careful in dealing or getting hooked to one.
