What's the reason for you to raise a cat at home?

In fact I like to have a cat at home. But I have to work in daytime, so basically my parents have to help me to take care of it if we had a cat. I am not sure whether they will be happy to it and therefore I haven't bought a cat yet. Last Sunday my son and I saw cute kittens and we all loved it. If I will buy a cat, perhaps I will tell my mom I picked up a homeless cat in the street. It has no home and therefore I have to bring it home. So perhaps my parents will not mind it

Instead of buying a cat, why not rescue one of the homeless ones? I have a lot of cats, and they are all rescues... some more rescued than others, but if taking them from a place where they were going to be either put out or "dumped" at the shelter, is still what I consider rescuing...

Back when i was in my teens, we have cats, the place where we live usually have snakes going inside the house..so my dad believe cats protect us from the snakes so we keep cats.. but now that i have my own family, cats are not allowed because we have kids at home allergic to cat's fur..

The "main" reason is not only for a cat to have a good home, but cats are great companions and have proven to be healthy, both physically and mentally. (this includes dogs as well) Now I saw someone mention about time, and yes you should have some time to spend with your cat, but their main needs are not just shelter and food. They need to be spayed and neutered, and have yearly check-ups at the vet as well as a good flea treatment, because my experience with cats are, they are flea magnets, worse than a dog. I do want to make a note on the spending time with the cat. You know, some cats have been abuse and really don't want attention. My daughter has a cat like this, as much as we tried to socialize her, even after 5-6 years, she still only comes out to eat or use the bathroom, and occasionally comes out when "she" is ready for attention. This kind of cat sounds like one you can get, it prefers to be left alone and you can give it a good loving home and not worry about it being neglected in the attention part. You will need to do some study though, if you are going to a shelter, ask about a cat that hides away when people come around, because usually these cats don't get adopted because people want a cat to play with, but not all cats play with people and prefer to play on their own. I hope that helps..

I know we shall think it over before we decide to have a cat at home. I don't want to be irresponsible.

Good for you youless, not many people consider to take the time to think it over and research what it takes to care for a certain pet. That is why so many end up at shelters, people see a cute little puppy or kitten and they want to take it home, only to find as this cat or dog grows, changes occur plus if they are babies, they have bad habits, like for kittens, they need to be trained to use a scratching post and not your furniture and for puppies, they need to know the difference between their toys and your shoes...lol

When I'm at 6 years old, a female kitten come to my house. I took her and raise her up, cause I always love a cat. Time to time, she give me a successor and I upto 5 generations. Too bad the last generations all was male cats. The 5th generations was 5 male cats, so I couldn't get a new successors from them.

They are the best friend for me at that time, many people said that they are like my sisters or my brothers. Whenever I want to go out, whether to school, work or just going out. I have to play hide and seek with, cause they will always following. Sometime, I have to entered them again to the house and shut the door. They look like crying. At the first time, it work. But after couple times, they will jump the windows. I have to ask a help from my mom, to hold them up. Its usually happen to a younger cats.

We don't have any cats at home but my family always prefer dogs for protection with the house. I like cats especially those cute ones, my cousin have two cute cats and I like them because they are so playful. Sometimes, when I'm in my cousin's house, I would wake up because one of her cats is playing above me already. The moment I open my eyes, the cat is staring back at me looking so cute and innocent. In our home, my mother doesn't agree with cats cause she can't keep up to taking care of them and she thinks she can't train them to dispose their bowels in the proper places.

I used to have many cats in my home but currently I do not have any. The first cat that I pet was 'Billu' she was really a nice cat but sick most of the time until she was 1 year old. She used to eat much and throw out everything. She had a very nice attitude but her toilet attitude was not good. She used to poo every here and there without any signal. But she was nice. I used to have 5 cats but I pet them at different times. They came one by one and were all nice, but the first one was much nicer than all. She used to come over to me and start playing.

Growing up we always had cats in the household but now that I'm living on my own I have a dog. We always had cats back then basically because I wasn't allowed to have a dog and also of course because they are cute and cuddley creatures to have around and love.

I have raised four cats, and I love raising them. They are wonderful pets, and they are very smart. They are very easy to carry, they love attention, and they love to play. They are also very good hunters. I wouldn't trade my cats for the world.

Or you could be honest and ask their permission. It would be cruel to bring a kitten into your home and run the risk of your parents not tolerating it or neglecting or abusing it.

Youless, in my parents old home, we do have a few cats. We started to have cat in our home, since from the day my sister brought home a homeless cat from nearby her school area. We felt pity and let it stayed in our home for nearly 10 years before it continue its journey to another place. She born a lot of kittens while staying in our home all these years. Even she helps us chase away the mouse from our neighbor's house which tried to stay in our home. For the cat to stay healthy, you must have a proper place for her to sleep and eat as well. Even needs to bring her to the vet for regular check-up for her to be able to live a healthy life. In my area here, visiting vet costs more than a normal doctor that treat human sickness. That's why, now i don't feed cat but dog.

I don't know if the picture flatters the cat itself, how adorable it is! It puts me in mind of the little tiger.Over here there are few people who keep the cats.I ,for one, breed a dog.Maybe the dog is very good at guarding houses and obedient to its owner. However I like the cat too.

I would like to have cats at home sooo much, but unfortunately these conditions would not be good for them. I live in a small apartment now and will probably move soon, that wouldn't be easy for them. I don't want to leave them alone at home, so my aunt would need to take care of them sometimes, but she hates cats, so that's not an option. I hope I can settle down soon and have my cats at home because it's something I dream of since I was a child

Well if you really want that kitten badly then go ahead, make it look like you just saw the kitten in the street. But if i were you i don't like lying, so it would be best to tell them that you bought it and you want to take care of it. AS for me i really prefer cats over dogs, they are much easier to take care of, that's why i take care of them.

When I was growing up I always wanted cats but my dad was not good with animals so I wasent allowed to have one. As soon as my boyfriend and I moved into our own place we rescued two kittens. When my daughter was born he brought home a kitten from friends house. The only cat who is still alive is now about 10 years old. I feel bad sometimes because I dont let her be free to go outside but shes much safer in my home.

I have always had cats and I will say that they are very easy to care for, as well as really funny to watch sometimes. I have cats that have come from cats homes as well as Ragdoll cats and they all seem to get a long ok.My cats are all ages as well as all sizes and they are really friendly. Cats are great, as they help my son calm down, also they are great for people that are destress people who have stress in their lives.
