Have you ever noticed the difference between a person who loves doing their job? It's quite different if you compare it to someone that is simply doing it for the money. I think of this because in my three years in my highschool, I have not seen someone so excited to teach Calculus to us. He's been teaching for a decade and a half, and there's a weird aura that just seems to invigorate everyone. What do you think of it?

I think the more you love your job the more it rubs off on other people. I have had jobs I really loved and people were always in a good mood when they came in. I have also had jobs that I hated and I think my attitude toward it affected the way my coworkers felt about the job as well. Your teacher sounds like he loves what he is doing and probably thinks of it as more than just a job but as a fun activity.

You're so reminded me of my Calculus teacher in high school. He was also very passionate about teaching the subject. He'd go beyond teaching or school hours if we ever needed help, especially with only three of us back then taking his Advance Calculus class in high school...

Hehe, apparently my calc teacher also has an interest for blacksmithing, which I find rather awesome! He showed us a steel rod while teaching us about the limits of certain graphs.. :D

If you ask me that question, I would say I am a person who loves my job. My back ground is professional degree in Computer Science and earlier I used to work in the Information Technology industry. There the routine was machine like and the only thing that howered in our minds were deadlines and projects. The job was monotonous mos of the days and I was just working for he sake of working. But then I changed company and got one closely related to my domain and I have to say, I am quite happy with my job. there is novelty in whatever I am doing and there are enough challenges in the job that motivates rather than disappointment. i am quite happy with my current work place.

What type of programming have you learned? In our school, it's required for us to get to a programming course before taking Precalculus, and I learned a bit of C++ and Java.. Not the best of my interests, but would you say it was easy learning a new language?

People who enjoy, happy and seriously doing their job are worker hollic. This kind of people just like to do work. They usually being careful in completing task given and concern with quality. They do need for salary, but they don't care working with extra energy, time, effort, ect. They just love to do this way and it gives them satisfaction when successfully completing the job.
For people who work just to get the money, they don't enjoy the job. If they were ask to do extra work with overtime paid still they refuse to do. They just want to finish job given to them without considering the quality end of their job.
Well, just define which category we sit, or maybe at the middle? I believe we want our company money as much as we can and our company wants our service as at the best of expectation, hence this is win-win situation, then just be honest and sincere doing our job. Or maybe the job, employer, people and surrounding does meet our expectation, then just go find another job immediately.

I don't really think it's like that.. Keep in mind that my mindset is different from yours, but I think there is also a clear distinction between a teacher and a worker in an office. Office workers only have to deal with papers and the peers around him. The occasional boss comes around, and it seems routine. Might I add, teachers also have a bit more power than that of Office workers? They also have their time off and (seems to be) stable pay..
Just a thought..

At first i never liked my job. it is because I need to do many reports and present it to my boss and top management. I really hate when they scrutinize it and the fact that I do have a stage fright. But after years of doing it, I learned to loved it and everyday, I take my job as a challenge to perform better. My reporting skills had improved a lot over the years, and I had learned to hide my stage fright as if I am always doing it with confidence.

Good on you! :D
It's really difficult to like a job despite having to survive and at first even disliking the job.. or at least that's what I've heard.. Sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone to get better at things, and this is proof of it!

Teaching calculus is tough. After facing the same kind of challenges over and over again can be very frustrating and wear the person down.
Maybe he just needs a break and teach something else to get back his enthusiasm, assuming he had that in the first place.

I don't really think it's that.. he talks to us about his family's mathematical skill in a whimsical tone and of some math convention he's going to with a couple of his other math teachers. He always seems to have a lot of free time given the amount of appointments we have at him in one period..
So I think it's not that :)

Hi I've notice those difference too, I could set an example myself I really don't like the job that I have now, because I really don't have the background and even the knowledge on how to sell products or orient someone. But afters months and year in this job I've learned many things and improve some skills of my own. But I still don't like my job right now, I want a job that is related in creative stuffs.

Is your job time-consuming? I'm not a very big fan myself if I had to go into that industry, being kind of introvert and all x/
But regardless, I hope for the best on your sales!

Hi there McCreeper,
Indeed it is nice to do your work when you like your job. No matter how hard and difficult the situation may be, when you liked what you are doing, then, your body language can adopt the difficulty of the situation. Hence, your body will surely oppose and feel the stress when the work you are doing is not amiable for you.

It seems finding a satisfied job for myself is very difficult. I always think that working for others is no happier than working for myself. I want to be my boss before 30 years old. I am glad your teacher feel good about his job. Hs is a blessed person. I hope I will get rid of my boring job asap via my hard studying. Have a nice day!

I agree with you Mc Creeper on this idea. There is really a big difference between the one who loves what he is doing when it comes to output and performance than to the one who is just doing the job just for the source of income. There is a lot of this kind of employee in our place. They will just come to work at their convenience. Upon reaching the office, they would do nothing but gossiping and roaming around.

Passion will make things different. If we really like and love what we are doing, we can perform well even in the midst of challenges. Dedication will be there no matter what. I really admire people having this extraordinary gestures that i often ask them on how to make their thing so good. I'm trying to think that money is not everythingm, as long as I'm happy, I would go for anything as long as it is beneficial to everybody. Thanks

I had graduated from university more than 4 years and had worked for about 4 jobs, but I never like my job, actually I hate my job especially for the currently one,why I work is just for the money, and the worse thing is my pay is very limited,so I always feel unhappy, how poor I am.
I think the person who love his job very much must have a happy life,I very admire these kind of people, they know want they want to do and what they can do,but me,I still not find my way,I very confuse about my future, but anyway,I will keep finding,I sure I will find a job which I like it very much, and much better thing is,in this way I can have a more happy life.

the difference that one can easily get to notice easily is the sincerity and passion that is showed up by those who loves their job. In life you came across many such people who may quoted as examples and will fascinate and inspire you. But this temporary inspiration as you do or opt any other course in future you will find there are also some people there as well. So if one loves to do his job it make him more effective and productive because it is the zeal and passion which is also involved. I think loving one's profession is a must as it never be monotonous to you.

Hi,
I can relate to this as of the very moment. I am earning good money, but Im actually bored. It's a matter of choice between happiness and money. I don't even know what to do and how to balance it.

My aunite is a little like your Valculus teacher. She is a university english teacher who has been teaching nearly 20 years. But she is quite enthusiastic about her job, prepares the lectures clearfully and organizes the class in creative ways. Her students like her teaching very much. On Monday, she just called me to tell how moved she was when the whole class stood up and said,"I love you". To have a job we love is important because the interest can stimulate us to work more efficiently and positively.
