US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and US President Barack Obama announced the tragic demise of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other envoys to Libya after a group protesting an internet feature panned their ire on the US Consulate in Benghasi, Libya, setting the compound on fire. Chris Stevens, according to the Secretary of State, was one diplomat who travel on acargo truck, established genuine relationship with the Libyan people, and was really bent on helping the nation get back on its feet. The violence was senseless.

Perhaps there will forever be extremists. One thing for sure though, the whole world was put on camera now, reason enough why we see the cruelty that for ages had been hidden. The people who persecute are gradually losing the grip, even China has to allow their people to adopt to the wave of the modern world, lest they lose the support of their workforce (personal viewpoint, the way I see how things and situations unfold).

That group who attacked and killed had gone barbaric, as if we are back in time where lawlessness prevailed.

There is a lot of senseless violence in this world. In the words of Alfred Pennyworth from the Dark Knight films, "There are just some men who want to see the world burn." There are just some people who want nothing but misery for everyone because they can't be happy, and they become jealous, hateful, and resentful when they see anyone else getting what they need or what they want. There are many places in Africa, and in the Middle East, that are targets of senseless violence because people don't want what is best for everyone.

It's both. They do it because they are jealous and can't get what they need and want, and they do it because they just want to see others suffer. You are a rational person. You don't want to see others suffer, but there are people out there who aren't rational and who want to see pain brought upon others. Read Buddhist teachings. It explains it well. There are some people who want what is best for everyone, but then there are some people who are terrible people and want the worst things to happen. With the good, there will always come the bad.

I have to think about what you wrote here, might be true that there are men who would want to sow violence, but is it because they couldn't get what they want, or they just do it to see others in misery. The group who set the consulate on fire was protesting about an anti-Muslim video on the internet.

These muslims in Libya and Egypt may have found themselve another perfect excuse to kill Americans and possibly going to war with Isreal. This time it is a film make by an unknown individual living somewhere. They are blaming U.S and Isreal again over an internet trailer where acting is shown. Go figure how silly the turn of event is unfold in front of your eyes from these extremists in those countries.

Last I heard, the French embassies were closed because of a sarcastic cartoon that was published in a mag. Wow, I do not know from what perspective must I view this world crisis. It is like a midsummer night's dream, or nightmare, when confusion made fools of everyone.

I agree that this violent act was completely senseless nobody in that embassy was involved in making the film that caused the offence. Its a shame that whenever somebody does something offensive to muslims a small group atttack any Americans/westerners they can regardless of any personal involvement. In this case someone who was trying to help the libyan people.

Therefore, the Americans must be extra careful, various peoples of the world hold Americans in different lights. There is one common denominator, and that is, America is arrogant, and it was an American somewhere in the news who said that.

I honestly believe that much of the violence in the world today is very senseless violence. However, that doesn't change the fact that it still persists. I actually was ignorant of everything that had gone on with the American embassies until I was on my way home today from running a couple of errands out of town and got stuck in traffic and I wanted to find out what was holding up traffic and this was the topic of discussion on the talk radio station.

Hi eileenleyva, I agree with you that the violence was senseless but there are two sides to every story. People are not incited to mob violence without a reason. I condemn the act but think there has to be something behind it - perhaps the film portraying the prophet Muhammad in a very bad light. In any case this should never have happened and my condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack. Blessings.

I have seen tourists in my country who blatantly desecrate the sanctuary of our church, and the only punishment they received for such unbecoming demeanor was a reprimand from the tour guide. I would have reacted differently and shoo those tourist boys back to where they belong. I am also angered when my God is made fun of, but I don't resort to violence.

All of us have various frames of references wherein we really see things a little bit differently. Even I am racist or judgmental to a certain extent, but the respect for human life is basic, take that away, we are not different from preying beasts.

a part of some reports said it was even planned. it made me think about how much human beings can be evil. some people are driven by need or lack thereof but these kinds of killings do not even have 'valid' reasons at all.

Hi friend, violence is not a solution for any problem, surely the leaders and politicians must try their maximum to avoid this violence, but sadly in some places some politicians are the reason for unwanted violences
