The iPhone uses smaller sim cards than the normal sim cards. But the latest iPhone 5 even uses a new sim card and it is called Nano sim card. It is smaller than the current iPhone sim cards. Oh... So far it seems our mobile providers even don't have this kind of sim cards. So even if you buy iPhone 5, perhaps you can't use it yet

I've heard about it too. That's the Nano sim that is smaller than the micro sim. And the phone is really pricey. When you purchase the phone, your provider (here in the Philippines, Globe and Smart would carry it) will provide one for you.

Hi youless, I had received a brand new smartphone as gift recently so I don't have any intention to get another more advanced one. Lol...if I'm rich may be I would like to get it for I love all kind of new technology digital devices. So I don't have any knowledge how small the new i-sim card would be. My old sim card was cut to be very smaller when purchasing the new phone. He used a special designed cutter to deal with it accurately and easily I was told this was for all the latest smart phones. If the new i-sim card smaller size fit for iPhone 5 only certainly it's inconvenient that it doesn't serve friendly event in all iPhone product I suppose Happy posting

Actually, Apple has a notorious habit of adding specifications that other companies won't be able to catch up with. Now that Samsung has dared to tread into the Micro-SIM territory (Samsung Galaxy SIII), it looks like Apple has gone "Nano" in order to differentiate itself. It's not exactly a good thing, because it will make the phone inaccessible to a good segment of the populace. Take for example the market in the Philippines: the standard for our phones, whether smartphone or GSM, is the regular-sized SIM Card. With this new innovation of the iPhone 5, those who were already warming up to adopt, like me, might (and already am) get turned off and just forget about the iPhone for a while. I'm irritated that Apple has to do this, but this their style. Steve Jobs set the company atmosphere, and I guess this is how they will be: TrendSETTERS, and never TrendFollowers. :-/ In this case, it's not such a good thing. :-/

I don't like they have different sim cards because it is really inconvenient for the users.

I also do not idea that iphones uses different sim cards. If our network don't have that type of sim cards, that would mean we have to wait for them to upgrade with the new iphone.

But iPhone 5's sim card is even smaller than other iPhone's sim cards. And this is really weird.

I just read it yesterday regarding this matter. Iphone 4s was already using the micro sim so this latest Iphone is really quite smaller.Network provider that we will use will probably provide it.

Yes, the iPhone uses smaller sim cards. Therefore it is inconvenient for you to use another brand of cellphone.
