I don't know it is an official approved religion. Howerever the real americans are born in Christianity and not sure of that whether there is an official declaration on it.

I am a real American who was not born in Christianity. I have many Jewish friends who would be deeply hurt by your silly statement. Real Americans realize that there is a constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion.

Why Americans are generalized as christians??? I think Americans are to be known to be FREE PEOPLE with lots and lots of problems right now. because if Americans are born christians then conservatives would have permanently dominate politics. but if the philippines was a US state, it would have been a predominantly christian and republican

Excuse me!?!?!
First let me just say how insulting that statement is
I was born in America, raised in America and live in America
That makes me American!
I served my country in the military - I am AMERICAN
am I Christian?
NO I am NOT.
are you going to tell me that because I am not Christian I am not a REAL American?
There is NO "official" religion of the United States of America and thanks to our founding fathers who wrote the consitution we can practice whatever religion we choose to!
Second, your profile says you are from India....
what do you know about America? REALLY!

If we had an official religion, I think you are right, and it is a large part of our history, but nowadays a large part of public culture has drifted away from that.. Aiding this trend along, I would have to think, is the enforced teaching of so called scientific atheism, or rather a theory and hypothesis which somehow has become seen as having been somehow proven, yet there are many scientists who don't agree with this theory, seeing many flaws and large holes in. Yet still teachers can be fired for teaching any other theory of the origins of life, or even for raising or revealing any of the questions or flaws.
http://www.creationfaq.net/ has a link (top of the page) to a document called "A Scientific Dissent From Darwniism" signed by 100(?) scientists

There is no "official religion" of the USA. It's called "freedom of religion" and "separation of church and state." That means we are free to practice whatever religion we want to without interference from any governing body. Or at least that's the way it has worked up until recently.

There is no Official Religion Of United States Of America. In The Constitution is written to make sure there isn't one. The Founding Fathers did not want one religion to rule over All the people. This way all the people have a right to worship the religion of their choice. You are correct, there are more Christians than any other religion here in the States but there are so many different versions it would be hard to pick just one.

There is no official religion in the United States of America. Yes, there does seem to be a majority of Christians, but that does not make Christianity the official religion of the country. In fact, the reason that the United States was originally founded over 200 years ago was because of the fact that there were people that were seeking religious freedom. One of the rights that is given to US citizens is the freedom of religion and having that right means that there cannot be an official religion of the United States of America.

There is NO 'official religion' of the United States. The United States was the first nation to have no official state-endorsed religion and the First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees both the free practice of religion and the non-establishment of religion by the federal government.
The U.S. Census does not ask about religion but several surveys have attempted to poll people's affiliations. Christianity (in its various forms) is the religion which the majority (about 78%) of Americans profess. You can see a more detailed breakdown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_United_States

There is no official religion in the United States. Religions from the Amish all the way through the alphabet to Zoroastrianism and Zen have found a welcome there.

You would think Christianity was, was wouldn't you? I mean we have a lot of God stuff, in our pledge of allegence, on our money, even when we cuss. But officially there is no one religion here, all are welcome and there would be very few religions in the world that are not represented here. This is the official government take on religion, but socially, Christianity is certianly in the lead.

I don't think the question is fair for the people of America, if you're gonna put up religion in a country then the Philippines is a dominant CHristian country. but majority of the Muslims are in Mindanao Island. you are jut GUESSING, you should understand that it's not just christians that stay in United States. i don't want to correct you, figured it out and look to the internet. you can use mylot am sure wikipedia is accesable to you to.

I might say that there is no official religion in the U.S.A but the majority of its population were Christians. Because they identify themselves as it according to the American Religious Identification Survey. While others are Catholics especially the adults. :)

If we say official, does it follow also that the majority of the population is in that group. If that's the case, then I think, theres a lot of Christians in America with different sects. or divisions but they are called in general Christians. As a citizen of a country, we are given the freedom of choice to pick our religion. So there, I think, it depends on the premise and how we look at it. Thanks

Does the majority of a religion in a country determines the countries religion? Instead I should ask, is it proper for a country to have religion? It is just a piece of land. If you say the religion of a country is so and so, from where did you get the free consent of that piece of land? A country can't speak for itself. Also if you brand a country as a particular religion, is it not injustice to the other religion followers in the same country? Don't they have a say in their own country? They are also citizens of that country, so its the country's duty to show respect to the minority religions as well. The best religion any prosperous country can have is that of free religion. That way any one can practice any religion and everyone will feel being a part of the country and not treated as outsiders. I personally feel that every country should be like this. As far as USA is in concerned, Christianity is the majority religion, but the land of USA in itself has no religion. The Church and the State has been separated. Freedom of religion is a constitutionally guaranteed right to very US citizen. For further details, please check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_religion_in_the_United_States
Good day!
