Well we have this half askal and half labrador breed dog. The problem is she keeps destroying, bumping and biting our screen door every time it rains. We observe that she has a phobia in rain and lightning.
Okay.. I think we solved our problem by letting her in the house.. but few days later even if it is not raining she still keeps biting our door. I think we made her spoil and made her think that her boundary is also inside our house. This is unacceptable to us because she has a cozy place in our backyard and she was not even leashed and inside the cage like the other poor dogs.
Please share some suggestion or share some experiences like we are having right now. :))

Dogs are by nature gregarious social animals, a dog left alone is likely to feel insecure, worse still; to the dog, you and your family are its pack, to be excluded from the presence of the pack is punishment.
When you let it inside, to the dog you promoted it. No longer did it view itself as an outcast from the pack, tolerated but not loved, instead it was a proper part of the pack, now you have excluded it again it is desperate to be back with the pack, to feel safe, to feel loved
all the best urban

hi there!
the dog wants to be with you. Try to divert her door biting.

Hi friend, welcome to mylot. Sad to hear about your dog's problem. I think you lost a lot due to your dog's activities. Better to take it to a veterinary doctor and consult about this issue. Hope you will get proper solution with this

I have that problem with my dog before. Whenever it rains, or if he hears thunderstorms, he keeps on barking and biting things. The vet told us to have a simple therapy. He said whenever it rains, put our dog inside a room with mellow music so it will relax the dog. Or if not, massage the dog very lightly and tell him that everything is okay. We did that and it worked.

I think dogs with that kind of breed likes to bite things. DId you ever consider that it is still in the age of biting stage? Why don't you purchase toys for your lovely dog to avoid any kind of danger. It's best if you go to your dog's vet for a check up.

hi cmremorquecruz if you think that lab mix is going to be an outdoors dog you are really wrong. She is an indoor dog who wants to stay with her master. you cannot breed out her instincts to be with her master. She is an indoor dog which is fine, dogs are very clean and as long as she is let out to do her
business she will be fine for your indoor dog.Make up your
minds to keep her inside or if you cannot give her to some
one who accepts having a d og inside.

I had that same kind of half-breed labrador as well. But I disposed him after few months because he acted like crazy. Aside from that half-breed dog. We also have two other dogs who have been with us for more than 10 years and they are behaving so well. But this half-breed dog was so noisy. He would make a lot noise every hour of the day. While the other two dogs were quiet, he was busy barking for nothing. He even destroyed his eating plate. And worse, he even bit his own tail and then cried loud in pain. We dressed his wound and gave him antibiotic and did all thing so it would heal. But you know this dog kept biting his wound till the whole tail was gone. We tried to put medicine again on his wound and had it dressed but he kept biting the wound so it could not heal at all. It was the same thing every day until I got fed up and asked my husband to dispose this dog for our peace of mind. Now he is gone and peace has been restored in home. Thank God.

She wants to go inside because she feels more comfortable there. But this isn't the only reason. If she is half labrador, she needs to be with her masters. She might have a cozy place in the backyard, but her humans are not there. She must be where their owners are, and this is inside.
I suggest you to get used to the idea you have an inside dog.

oh that's funny, Labradors are suppose to love water, water paddies and the rain, like the other posts, I think it is more of human companionship and pack acceptance behavior you have to deal with.
