"I have decided to live unti I die"? Duh! I don't think this is a decision we can make. Either that or we end it all half way in. Is this some deep philosophical thing or what? It is the most obsurd thing. WHat is your take on it? Do any of us really live our lives to the fullest?

I don't know why you think it is so absurd, and I don't think it's really all that deep either. I think many people do live their lives to the fullest, or at least some a great deal more than others. If a person has a lot of phobias, for example, they may not do all the things that they wished they had, or act in the ways they wanted to, and so they will have missed a great deal of opportunities that have come their way. I think that this is a decision that any person who is going through therapy would have to make if they are to say it's really been successful. Maybe it seems so absurd to you because it's something you have never really been faced with?

Living life to the fullest makes sense but when it is phrased that way it doesn't make alot of sense. I decided to live life until I die. It sounds dumb.

I know a few people personally who have seemed to give up on life. They are willing to sit around and do nothing enjoyable because they "hate life" so much. That is their choice I suppose. I used to feel that way when I was going through some really hard things in my life.
I have now decided to have more fun and enjoy the smaller things in life that before seemed like no big deal to me.
I made a choice to enjoy things and see things differently. When I made that decision it seemed to lift a weight off my shoulders. I feel better about things, and I don't stress so much about smaller things that happen in life...

Ya, if the phrase reads "I decided to live life to the fullest until I die" that makes sense. I wasn't really talking about the meaning of the phrase but the phrase itself and how it was written.

that expression means to live to the fullest until you die. Many people do not, they get depressed, give up on life, or just don't do things they always wanted to do or try. It makes perfect sense to me, because there really is a choice in how we live our lives, in terms of the things we choose to do or not do,friends we keep, occupations we choose, and so on. Yes we don't have complete control over the situations, but we have enough control that our responses to life situations depends upon us.

I think that it does have something to do with living to it's fullest. Some people don't live..they just go through the motions. I feel like that sometimes. I think that some people may be lucky enough to do that..but the majority seems stuck.

hey eagle,
This has a really deep meaning and it suits on me really too much. I have decided to live untill I die and thats why my every day is so motivating, adventurous, gregarious, busy, occupied because i llive my life to the fullest. I love enjoying everything like we enjoy every sip of coffee. Life is aprecious gift, wither you are living for yourself or for someone else around you, so why not be committed to it and enjoy to its fullest. If we weren't suppose to live to its fullest we wouldn't have born, We have things to do, so just dont waste your chance:).

Yes, it is deep but written wrong. Life is precious. No way to do it over.

I am not to thr fullest. If I did I would be doing alot of traveling and spending more time with my family. That is not happening because I don't have the money to do so! Wish I did and hope I do when I retire! We will see!

I am helping my daughter raise her son so all my money goes there. I would love to travel someday.

"Live until I die" means 'to spend as much- if not more-time "living life" (acting to further your life-mission & reacting to allow more others to further their own in concert with yours) as you do "thinking/worrying about living life".'

hmm there are many people who live life to the fullest and yes people who are unhappy and do not live life to the fullest, they think that everyone is like them and it is wrong. We cannot generalize it to all the people. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

hi there!
It means some people does not live fully. They have the wrong purpose and wrong motivations to live. When the learned that their life is short, they search for their purpose and try to live their life.
Yes, some people do live their life to the fullest. It's simple.

I can understand your confusion, but the saying is not referring to living in the literal sense.
The phrase actually refers to "live" in the sense of making the most out of life. Therefore it amounts to saying that you will enjoy life to the full for as long as you remain alive, as opposed to simply existing for that period.

I doubt if any of us live our lives to their fullest, but I have known people who do not live their lives at all. A woman I think back to always said she regretted not having more kids, but she chose her career. She would love to have one of those bigger older homes with two stories, "but I will not be able to climb the stairs when I am old" she said. She was only forty two at that time. She could have had another child, she could have had a stately old home, but she was not living her life at all in the present, but as a future old woman. She is not even old now, is very fit and she and her husband are comfortably retired. That is a person who is too far in the future already, then there are people like my sister who are stuck in their past. They are not living now. It is all about their teenage romances and they are over 65. She does nothing interesting now, unless I drag her out. She is not living her life right now either. I hope to just get up and enjoy each day and find something to love about my life.

I doubt so also. I was talking about the phrase and how it is was written. I think life is a waste if we don't do whatever we can to enjoy and enbrase it.

we start trying and doing some things we always wanted to do but were told oh you a e too old or too young or too this or

I guess it makes sense. I just think it is written weird. Live life to the fullest. Why not just say that instead of confusing dummies like me?

It's no literal. It just means you aren't going to let anything hold you back. Many people live (are alive) but they aren't living up to their potential. It's making a choice to live better while you are still alive and able.

I view it as agentle reminder that we should not take each day for granted. Do not wish away our life or sit back and do nothing. I want to make the most of each and every day.
My favorite quote is one I have on my profile pic and it says about the same thing. "I will not die an unlived life" It just means that I am not waiting around for my destiny to show up. I am living every day. making the most of what I have, pursuing my dreams and taking charge of my goals. Does that actually happen each day, NO. But it is what I am working for and striving for.
