I just saw on the news-Walmart is offering customers the chance to pre-order the iPhone 5 for for $190 and a 2-year contract, and the ability to actually buy it on September 21st. Do you think that Apple will be able to handle filling orders by that date? I remember when the iPhone 4 was released in June 2010, we pre-ordered two phones (the limit). I took my daughter and her best friend to go pick them up and the line was unbelievable! We were there close to five hours, and I was worried they'd run out, but it seems that many people in line did NOT place an order! So we waited approximately four and a half hours before we got into the store-and we picked up our phones! Now I'm excited-my phone is really on its last legs and needs to be updated, so I'm taking advantage of my upgrade to buy one.
Is anyone else a fan of Apple products? Have you waited in line to purchase a new phone or other electronic?

I am a HUGE fan of Apple products but I have never wanted an iPhone. I don't much care for cell phones although I do have a cheap (less than $10) prepaid phone "just in case". It all stems back to the days when I had to have a cell phone for work and the blasted thing never stopped ringing. I developed a physical twitch and vowed never to be so accessible again, I do have an iPod Touch which is pretty much an iPhone without the phone. I can Skype on it which provides most of my communications needs. My daughter has an iPhone and we message each other which is handy. I shall get iOS6 when it comes out so won't miss out on most of the new iPhone goodies. Right now I am having a bit of a crisis with Apple. I keep reading reports of the appalling working conditions of the company that manufactures Apple (and other computer manufacturers) products. I believe strongly in the concept of dignity at work and I am not sure that these people are receiving it. Other than than......Apple is fine by me: iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad and iPod Touch owner! I love 'em. LOL.

Any Apple fan is good with me! I wish they weren't built overseas but I can just imagine how much more money they'd cost if they were US-built! Please share about chatting through an iPod touch-my daughter only has that (her dad cut off house phone and I can't afford her cell). Thanks!

I'm surprised Apple allows them to do that. I know that Walmart is a retail force to be reckoned with, but Apple is not going to suffer greatly if the iPhone isn't sold there.

Outcast-the new one is thinner and lighter than before. Androids are more likely to get viruses too. What one do you have?
Bknabe-you'd still have to activate it through AT&T, Sprint or Verizon, which anyone can do. The Apple store can be a bit intimidating the first time too.

I think if Walmart is giving iPhone 5 in $190 then it will be better to buy because I saw on Apple site the price labeled is $199. There can be saving of $9….And as far as the line is concerned then this is obvious to happen because everyone has joy of iPhone 5 and thinking to update old one with it. I think this is really good offer at Walmart.

Walmart knows they've got the volume and ability to sell the phone for less. The prices are only good if the user is upgrading an iPhone to this one AND they sign a two-year contract. If you have any other kind of phone, you will pay the $399 (minimum) price. As it turns out, Apple has SO many pre orders, they probably cannot meet the demands of consumers on the 21st, the first day it will be on the street. I'm waiting a few weeks-I have other obligations that must be met first, and my birthday is coming up in the beginning of November. By then, maybe all the idiosyncrasies will be worked out!

iPhone is a work of art.I appreciate it ,but I have never buy one.On the one hand ,it's so expensive in our China , about $800.On the other hand ,Android is also a good choice, such as MIONE ,as good as iPhone and it's attractive in price and quality.

Yes, the iPhone is definitely a work of art! A new one always costs more-my phone retailed for $399.00 but I saved $200 because it was upgraded. I'm upgrading again, so I get to pay the reduced price.
