Do you know that Roscas or Bagel is a bread dish eaten in Mexico, South American Countries, and other parts of the Americas? Having devoted my researching on this delicacy, I found myself in the company of the women in Barugo, Leyte (Philippines) preparing Roscas. Cooking and selling Roscas is a livelihood in this silent part of the country. When asked, they confided that they themselves do not know the origin of the food, and where they learned the technique. For the meantime, I am munching two packs of Roscas and I find them delicious. Do you have experiences in your countries cooking or eating Roscas?

It is a tradition in mexico to eat roscas on jan. 6 for kings day. We do this in my home where the roscas also have 3 little plastic babies hidden inside the bread. Whoever gets the babies inside the bread must host a Party on frebruary the second.

I live in Chile, South America, and roscas have been part of my treats for tea time at special occations since I was small. But my recipe doesn`t use teast as bagels but is a very easy dough with just baking powder.

In the Philippines, we use dough but the taste of roscas gets enhanced by the addition of more ingredients-- eggs, milk, lard.
