Before considering leaving your current job for a stay at home work, you must consider first that you will be turning your back on these following things;
1. A steady flow of income every 15th and 30th.
2. Steady contributions to your Social Security which will ensure you a better retirement.
3. Medical Coverage you and your dependents every year which comes handy in today's trying time.
Let's not be to hasty and be driven by the hypes we read on the internet. Let us think first if everything that we'll be sacrificing will be worth it.

it's worth it but it takes time. there are so many people working online. no one will show you what the formula is. i wish i knew, then i'd quite my day job. by constant participation in forums like this, one day, you'll get your own groove going. it might take years or months, but do not lose your day job until then.

I agree that no one should leave their job out of the blue without an income source or knowledge of the net. But I disagree with the premise that you have to be dependent or scared to be your own boss if you really want.
I know of 300+ ways that a 5th grade educated person that is willing to work can make anywhere from $50-800 a day. Now the $300-800 a day takes a little luck too but I've seen it done so many times. The same effort you put in to make someone else rich you can make a better life for yourself.
Thing is there is no guaranteed jobs anymore if you stay at a job for more than three years and it pays decent you're lucky. Social Security is a myth if you're under the age of 50 and health care is next on the chopping block because companies can't bare the expense so...
What you do now is your future and for me I don't like to leave it in no ones hands but mine so try to do both until you wade through all the get rich schemes and find what really works. Good luck to you.
