Believing God For A Miracle

I am sure there are many who have been here at one time or another. Feelings of hopelessness and dispair and many times like life is unfair and caving in all around you. I know for myself, I have experienced this many times, and you often end up only continuing to ask yourself why. As most of you know there have been many hardships and set backs over the last couple of years with my health, and then things with my Finances and I really believe that God is still in control but many times asking when/ But no matter what happens I continue to believe and know one day it will be over. How many out there are believing God for your Miracle, or have there been things in your life that might have already been them? ~~TINA~~

As a fifteen year old boy I wanted a miracle, prayed for a miracle, that my nan who had suffered with cancer for a long drawn out ten years would be cured, but no, she was only 68 when her life cruelly came to an end. I believed in God, and he let me down on a grand scale and from then on I stopped believing in miracles, I stopped believing in God, how he could make someone so warm, so gentle, so life loving suffer for so long then extinguish her life without a second thought. I have never regained faith and to me God doesn't exist. How can he, with the world the way it is? Miracles are the stuff of fairy tales and don't exist in real life.

Sorry to hear about both of you loosing someone to cancer as I know this is not easy. I hate the thought of people loosing a loved one like this and can understand why you would question god. I have experienced too many things in my life health wise in small miracles to where I believe in god even though I sometimes question why it is taking so long with the leg wound.

Thank you for coming in and sharing. That is why I get so angry when people say that they have faith in God, how can you have faith in a God that you have never see? You only have to open your eyes and look at the terrible state the world is in today to see that there is no one watching over us and isn't ironically religion the biggest curse on humanity? All about a so called God that no one has even seen.

I'm very sorry for your experience. To a 15 year old, that must have truly hurt. I disagree with your conclusion, however, that God & miracles aren't real, 'coz I've seen them happen in my life & in other people's. Frequently when people ask God for something, especially in desperation, the force behind it is FEAR, not FAITH. Simply hoping God would intervene wasn't the way to approach your situation. God works by faith, and in your nan's case, STRONG faith. Were there others who prayed with you, bolstering your hope/faith with theirs? Also, she was getting along in years, how much longer did you realistically expect her to live, even without the cancer? There are actually a lot of other reasons behind your prayer 'failing' but we need more info about your faith background & your nan's situation.

I'm one of those, and for good reason, as I've also been struggling like you physically & in other ways too. God is totally able to do beyond what we can't for ourselves. He's already proven Himself trustworthy & dependable in the past; there's no reason He won't come through now. When I fail to get a blessing/an answer, I know it's due to my failure to recognize His way out oftentimes.

Well, for me often times I think I am expecting an answer right away, and not ready to accept the times when it is Best I wait. With everything I go thru, Financially, and physically it can get depressing but God is in control and in his time everything will happen.

You've put words that pretty much sum up how I've been feeling the last eight or nine years! There are days I wonder how I can keep up this struggle, but during the hardest times, He's helped me through. It's hard, knowing that I'm on the Lord's timetable, especially since I'm not particularly patient, but in the end I know there will be great rewards. I'm going through an especially trying time in my relationship with my fiance-I know that part of our financial issues are due to the fact that I'm unemployed but I'll be starting school in a week. But part of it also has to do with issues from his previous marriage that he did NOT take care of, and that's where MY problem lies. I let Jim know that I'm not marrying him with the bills from then, and while he initially was angry, he sees that I haven't left him yet either. So lately I've been praying to the Lord to help me through this really difficult time-and after yesterday, I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I hope that things are improving for you too-my health has ups and downs (I have multiple sclerosis) but I'm grateful for every day I'm given to be able to see to get up and to walk to the bathroom on my own.

Glad to hear about the job offers and such. I am sure this is a Big help and relief off your shoulders. We are still trusting and believing God on a few things that need to come to pass, but believing they will happen. Just learning sometimes you have to be a little patient.

Personally since I started this discussion there have been some Good things happen and more places willing to work with me, but there are still things that have a long ways to go. I just continue to trust and believe god standing strong that one day this too shall end and all be over, and it will be worth it all. Just wish it would be sooner than later.

I'm so happy to hear that things are just starting to look up! Since I replied, I finished school (and barely passed), but I had two recruiters call (for merchandising jobs, both part time) and I've been hired by both! Plus another fantastic job asked me to call so that they can begin a preliminary screening (FT with benefits), so I'll be able to breathe! It won't be a lot of money, but that little bit will go to building our emergency fund and paying off some little bills of mine that have gone untouched for some time. I still pray that my fiance will wake up and realize that having only 4% of his income for us is not right-there's no savings!

I have learned that there is no miracle, no magic wand. What there is though is a lesson. It's for me to learn the lesson and take the steps necessary to fix things. It's hard sometimes but it's up to you. You can't sit back and expect anyone else to fix you because it has to be you. You have to change. Eventually you will understand that. You have to change things, change yourself, what you do, what you think, how you achieve things how you make decisions. It's all up to you. We are all, every one of us responsible for ourselves.

Yes, that is true, and that is why even if it is taking a while in my opinion things are a lot better for my husband and I then they were say 3 months ago even, and I feel we are wiser as well. I still feel I am doing my part to keep everything moving forward and helping make looking back 2012 for the most part a quite productive yr. as well.

Recognising the good is always a good thing and you're very good at that. You seem to get a good balance of taking the good with the bad. I remember when you had that awful guy as a tenant and got rid of him. That was such an awful time and things must be better than that. It's hard to believe the year is almost over yet again.

I haven't had or beieve there will be any miracle. I am agnostic and question alot of the beliefs people have now days. I know there is a higher power but I have alot of questions about the Bible and the fables in it. I live in a daily world of hopelessness and dispair. It is a part of my severe depression. I hope that things get better for you.

Personally, in all things happiness is really up to us. Because no matter what we are going thru if we keep positive good things can happen. Even if it is just only something small.

Well my friend I believe no matter who we are we are going to have our good days and our bad. There are many people who even go to church who suffer from depression and so it is a normal thing. Even people with good jobs, etc. The main thing we need to remember no matter what we are going thru, it really is up to us to make things happen. It may not be easy but it will be worth it in the end.

I have to agree with you celticeagle. I'm not even sure if my agnostic or athiest anymore. I have never seen a miracle. I don't believe the bible is the word of a god. It is a book written by men with their own agendas and perceptions...perhaps a novel, if you will. Churches are nothing but big business, and they try to rule the minds of the people. I don't know if I'm severly depressed...I don't think so, but I'm not happy. I haven't been happy for a long, long, time. There is really nothing good about my life, and I don't see anything happening to change that.

I don't think you intended it this way, but this is a very encouraging discussion. So many others have written about their trials and their faith in God that it's heart warming. My health is going from not good to worse and finances are in a shamble, too. I've had so many doctor appointments lately that my calendar is covered with them and still things are not going well. I've been on the edge of despair and have felt true fear, then I have felt the security of God's presence and I know that He will see me through. His miracle may not be the one I hope and pray for, but it will be the one that's right for me. God has provided many times before in many ways and I know that He will now, too.

When my kids were growing up and I was raising them by myself....sometimes I would be short of money.....and it seemed like low and behold something would happen so I would get the money....like a check from an insurance premiun that I overpaid......or someone would order cookies and pay me....it was a miracle.

Well yes, we have had many times in our life and marriage where there has been money when we really need it. I thing god many times just tries to keep instilling in people how long can you go and trust me, and see what I will do in your situation. Right now it still seems like we need a Miracle especially financially but I know and believe God is in control.

I've had many miracles in my life and some were in the form of "bad luck" or seemingly catastrophic financial setbacks. I've even, I believe, spoken to an angel and from that day on my life took a different (better) direction. Just remember that God is like any parent--He never "lets" bad things happen to us but is always there by our side and if we listen we will hear Him tell us how much He loves us and feel His encouragement. I believe He intervenes when possible but, like a good parent, lets us learn our lessons the hard way.

Yes, it is true even though many times I wonder God does not allow us more than we can handle, and steps in when we are needing him the most. Just sometimes my life does seem quite overwhelming and I often just need to take time and relax.

Hi, krauseHome. I do believe in God for miracles. Miracles have taken place, it is how we look at it. It was by the grace of God that I made it to where I am today, he provided for me when I didn't have any income, and still is watching over me now. As for you and your situation I understand. Even though you can't see it, God is working on your circumstances behind the scene, you can't see it but it is happening. Each day you wake up, you have made it through the day before, with the grace of God. God's timing isn't like our timing. I am in and out of MyLot often, and each time I return. I see your lovely profile picture. Now if that isn't God letting you still be here then who or what is it. Be blessed as long as you have breath in your body and above the ground, with so many things going on in your life.. Now that is a miracle. Maybe not the one you asked for but one of ones God want you to have for now. Be blessed in the Name of Jesus Christ!

Yes there are many times I feel frustrated and confused. It would be nice if things were better for sure. But I know there are many people who care and are praying for me, and know one day in time this will all be over and will be worth the wait.

I honestly don't think that I would be able to go through my life if I didn't believe that God would grant miracles to happen in my life. You know the fact that my husband is healthy right now is a miracle in and of itself. Then there is the fact that we are struggling financially right now and though I do spend a lot of time worrying about it, I also know that everything is going to be alright. The reason that I have that belief is because of the fact that I do believe that God doesn't give us more in our lives than we are able to deal with.

Well, there are times when I know I am better off than what I was when I first started this discussion, but have some needs financially again we have been praying about and believing and Trusting god on. It just seems like at times you have to endure some things before god steps in just to see how much you will really trust him, and can handle.

Yes, Tina, I've come across bad times too, of late. Although my health seems to be quite good. But I attribute that to staying away from doctors and using herbal and holistic remedies to eradicate the diabetes and arthritis that I had. My future looks very bad, though for other reasons, mainly financial. At 64 I find I have to find a job where there are none. I'm trying to learn some computer skills but my memory is working against me. Part of me feels like I'm too old to learn new stuff. 13 years ago I learned a new computer system and ran it well. I didn't have a problem then. I didn't expect to now. I don't feel old. I still feel like me but I'm not. It's hard. I pray. But I don't have a lot of time. I need help soon. There are other things I need to do but can't seem to make myself. I have no motivation. And the thought that keeps going through my head is the quote by Algernon Sidney "God helps those that help themselves". It's certainly not the first time I've been faced with a problem, just never of this magnitude. And I was younger. You're not alone. I believe in God and miracles. Did you know today is Free Money Day (Sept.15)? That could be a miracle for someone. Mythociate has a discussion about it. It is being observed in Seattle and in a town near where I live. Anyway, it seemed appropriate to mention it here. I believe that if everyone prayed to God together, at the same time, that something would happen. I think that many faithful people together in prayer have much power. Don't lose hope, Tina. I'm trying not to.

I believed everyday God has his miracle to us, only we did not noticed it. Or sometimes we are not aware of many things that happened to us that we are guided by Him. Yes I've been through to that many times. Specially the day when my son was ill ( the twin brother of my eldest) and he really granted my wish trough miracle. Since then I really appreciated that everyday me and my love one are safe and alive. And that was a miracle to me.

I personally believe everything we are handed in life is thanks to god, especially when we are Praying and asking. What has happened for you in your life you need to remember and take time to Thank God for. Remembering to Pray and thank him everyday no matter what we are going thru helps us in so many ways.

I love reading how Jesus and his followers have done miracles when they are still in this earth. Those accounts are one of the reasons why I believe in God. But I do not actually need a miracle to believe in God. Just looking at His creations is enough for me to have faith in Him.

I truly believe in God's miracles, specially when it arrives just on the nick of time. I always receive "little" miracles in my life. I would pray for it, and wait but it doesn't come. But when the time comes that it is really due, such as a bill is due, someone would come to help me out. I consider that a miracle, my friend. Just keep on praying and believing and He will answer you just when you least expect it already. Miracles come in many forms.

Hi, My wife is suffering from myopathy, a muscular disease. She has difficulty in walking and doing many things. Some times she feel hopeless. But she believe in God and she is sure that she can walk again. Some miracle would happen and she she will be fine again. She has positive attitude towards life and she has very strong mind. So I also believe that miracle will happen and she will be alright.
