No visible icons on the desktop???? Please help

Press ctrl + Esc to bring back your start menu button, then go to ‘run’ and type explorer.exe and then ‘ok’. Explorer.exe controls systems start menu, taskbar etc. controls. It might be possible that this process was terminated so your icons are not visible. Or it happens because your system Registry is generating a problem, it might be corrupted or needs cleaning. Clean your registry system and always keep it clean.

You might have a corrupted registry. If you are using windows xp you can go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q307545. I hope this would help.

Sounds like the explorer application is not running. As mentioned in another reply, press ctrl-Esc and run command - explorer. To fix it permanently, you need to trace the root cause. Worst case, reinstall the OS.
