she’s not in the office but . . . .

Whenever my boss is on an official business trip, expect it that she will make us more be working in a rush.
She would call me on my cellphone, that she wants to speak to the accountant or whoever, when they all have their own cellphones too. Then , she would let me email all department heads to request for their reports in a matter of 15 minutes! Then, when she receives them, she would have them revised.
Oh , how we wish she is just here at the office during those moments. At least when she’s here it’s not that way.
So, when we finish those tasks, we would all laugh at the way we were all rushing!

I bet your boss is laughing too because she knows all of you are cramming for your work to be done. That is one bad boss. but if it only happens when she is not in the office, it's okay. Because when she does that every time, oh my, I wouldn't know what to do.
Our boss gives us schedule because I am in a shipbuilding company so we have time to set our own work but it has to be within the time given by the boss. And usually, he gives us a really short time to work. So, in short, we all cram too.
I hate cramming, I can't concentrate enough with what I do when someone is rushing me.

Well, it doesn't happen often though. That's only when she's at our corporate office reporting and the reports given to her by some department heads are insufficient.
But overall, she's a very nice boss, understanding and generous.

one thing that my boss does, is tell me to do one task and not even five minutes later, she'll tell me to do another task. working with her daughter, depending on the task, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. sometimes i just have to remind her how long some of the tasks take.

Sometimes , my boss is like that. That's why when she calls me to come to her office, i always have my writing pad and pen so i can take note of them all.
So when i go back to my laptop, i review them all and do them according to their priority.

Because she has to, if you lack conviction to work and doesn't get it done, she will be in trouble with her boss too. then, she will get fired and you will get another but even more unappreciative boss.

As her subordinates, we have to follow her orders. Whatever we do contributes to the success of her report at top management.

Well, this only happens once in a while, when she is in our HO , in far city , in a reportorial meeting with top management. So, we understand the urgency of the reports she is asking.
At any rate it's easy, because of emails .

Oh my, you remind me of my boss too
She was on travel and called me that I need to text my monthly report.
I said it's already on her email but she said she's on travel (on her car) and don't have internet connection.
She asks me to send it through text so she can check it before she reaches her destination.
Oh gosh- good thing her phone is one of the latest so I told her I will send it in wordtext format
whew!!! boss

I guess, our boss are like that when they too are pressured by their bosses too.
It's a good thing though that her cellphone can read and answer emails. So , she can read them wherever she is. Even now that she's in Thailand taking a vacation with her boyfriend. She's a widow at the age of 33.

hi SimplyD
I am happy that I was never a favorite of my bosses and hence no one trusted me with such things I believe my profession as a teacher was the factor responsible for this...
But I was rushed more by my students who would even call me up to ask for suggestions, advices and tips - not only for their interviews but even sometimes for their work.
You should be happy that the boss trusts and relies more on you when she is away...

Oh yes, she trusts me, because i am her executive assistant.
So, when she's out i am in charge. Though, sometimes when she's angry with a department head she too would like me to relay it angrily.

She's making sure you are actually working when she's not there!
That makes one wish, she wouldn't go instead. Do you have a CCTV camera in your office. Maybe it's time she should get one!

Actually, when she's out she would always have plenty of instructions for us , executive assistants to do. SHe handles different affiliates as the president , GM so we are 3 in all as her EAs.
Though, i have the most of the responsibility because her office is with the other EAs, while i have a separate office with my office mates. So i carry out her directives of relaying to the department heads. Pag ngarag ako, mas sila.
CCTVs , of we have them, to see us all working.

Well that usually happens in the office too.
One of my boss used to call me even weekends just to ask about this and that, bu that was before, know he don't bother me during weekends and just continue his inquiries when work resumes during Mondays.

Oh yes, she does calls me on weekends too.
There was even an incident where she called me to attend a judging of a beauty pageant together with my gay office mate, because she was stranded in Manila of the typhoon.
So i told her she should just have her driver fetch me with my office mate first who is at that moment at the office. So she said yes and i dressed up.
Last minute she called to say it was cancelled, and that they don't want a representative.
It cost her a lot for doing that. I asked for a very nice pasalubong.

Oh well, we can understand her, because she does that also whenever she's at our head office, reporting to top management. She's rushed with some urgent report and would also do the same to us of course, because we know the data.
But she's a nice , understanding and supportive boss in general.

Some bosses are like that and they know that once they are out the employees are free and relaxed, so they want the employees to be working so they call for this and that. lol So funny. at least they should let it be that way and give a break to the employees in the absence. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Actually, the last time she did that was last Wednesday, when she was in Manila to report to top management. But after that , we were not bothered anymore, because she's already on vacation until now, in an Asian country.
Though, we make our communications for our concerns on emails. She religiously answers them in the evening i think, when they are already at the hotel resting.
